I’m looking at one of these right now. Wife is a Doulton (why does that spelling feel wrong?) fan and she’s got it sitting on her desk. Think she fancies herself the next head of SIS or something.

This may have been mentioned but in the recent Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, in a scene with John Hurt's "Control", he has two of these - a large one and the smaller type seen in Skyfall - in his office.

 

I am assuming this is all one big in-joke about heads of SIS. Too unlikely to be a coincidence?

 

Scene about halfway through, John  Hurt sitting with his back to some files, smoking away, the dogs over his left shoulder, on the right hand side of the picture.
