In CR we had an American plate and now, Bond had "replated" his car with the 216A...

It's more likely that he re-registered it for use in the UK.

At risk of being too much of a pedant, the Aston Martin DB5 in CASINO ROYALE actually had a Bahamian number plate - 56526.

Hooray! It's finally made it online: thanks very much for posting.
Any idea who's sitting on which side? Is it back to being right hand drive?

It is, in fact, a RHD. Bond probably sent it off to the Aston Workshop. Also glad to see they got the BMT 216A plates back on it. As I recall there was some legal issue for their use in GE. Hence we got BMT 214A for that.

Anyway, just good to see it back.

With an outdated number format? Clearly he must have asked for bespoke, yet meaningless plates (unless he's referring back to a car that never existed in his re-imagined universe).

Do you think that the exteriors of the Goldsmiths College were used as a set for Skyfall or just as the crew base?

No, that's right: there are plenty of unused numbers around for each year- I'm pretty sure you can get one if you import a car. It wouldn't get a new car plate.

There's 3 people in the Aston there. Interesting. M is in the back, so presumably Bond and Tanner up front?

I hadn't thought of that: what kind of plate would an imported classic car get... too bad I'm too lazy to check the DVLA website.

I think you are mistaken there; a DB5 hasn’t really got a back seat, well, not one that anyone could sit on.

As we are looking at it, M is on the left, Bond the right - that third head in the middle is someone who is visible through the front windscreen, perhaps leaning across the bonnet.

Looks like a guy in the front passenger seat to me. Judy appears to be behind Craig. I say 3 people in the car. No way is the back of that head outside of the vehicle. It's just as in focus as Judy is.

Also, if she were in the front, wouldn't a head rest of some sort block at least a segment of her head?

The grey hair belongs to the person in the passenger seat, a DB5 has not got much to call a back seat.

There is a sort of very thin seat, it is just there for styling, you can not sit on it, there is no room for your legs

Weird perspective in this photo, I guess. I always thought there was a bench in the back, but like you said, no leg room.

It is like a bench. But in this case, Dench is not on the bench.
If you look closely, the head just to the right of her grey hair is facing us - I can just make out his face. I would say it’s a member of the crew leaning over the bonnet, looking into the car through the front windscreen.

The front seats in a DB5 don't have a headrest. Sort of rounded bucket seats. The bench seat in the back can accomodate an average size person. I know, I sat in one to find out and I'm slim and just a bit under 6' 1". Your knees are are almost up to your chest though. I concur that it is a tech just peering in from the front but the odd shape in the back may be a camera box to film from the rear and hence blacked out.

No headrests in a DB5. I only see the back of one head; not sure what you're seeing there. If it's Judi it looks like she's in the front to me. There's a face to the right, but that's someone facing us looking through the windscreen.

My Dad's Cobra replica was allocated a 'new' numberplate a few years ago, and that was a P reg plate (1975). I assume they could do the same for a 'new' classic car; I'm not sure.

The more I think about it, the more I feel a DB5 car chase isn't likely at all. I think it will just be M getting driven to safety. If you look at the structure of it, this part with the DB5 appears a few scenes after the massive London car chase sequence. You think they'd put another car chase in?

Well, I think the night shots in London now might be Bond an M nosing about the back alleys or wharehouse area of say either Glasgow or possibly Aberdeen. Since we've now had the filming this last week of the DB5 on the road up to Scotland, maybe those scenes take place before the night shoots. The drive up could lead to M's big reveal to Bond of exactly what her past actions were and the results that are presently taking place. This might also lend itself to Bond pulling off and the two having a moment discussing it. It could be rather dramatic. A sort of pivotal scene.

Anyway, just gald to see the original "silver beast" (no offence to JG) involved.
