At risk of being too much of a pedant, the Aston Martin DB5 in CASINO ROYALE actually had a Bahamian number plate - 56526.
Touche... but, is not Jamaica in America? ;-)

Any idea who's sitting on which side? Is it back to being right hand drive?

With an outdated number format? Clearly he must have asked for bespoke, yet meaningless plates (unless he's referring back to a car that never existed in his re-imagined universe).

No, that's right: there are plenty of unused numbers around for each year- I'm pretty sure you can get one if you import a car. It wouldn't get a new car plate.

Arf.(unless he's referring back to a car that never existed in his re-imagined universe).
It's a nice touch, though.

I hadn't thought of that: what kind of plate would an imported classic car get... too bad I'm too lazy to check the DVLA website.

There's 3 people in the Aston there. Interesting. M is in the back, so presumably Bond and Tanner up front?
I think you are mistaken there; a DB5 hasn’t really got a back seat, well, not one that anyone could sit on.
As we are looking at it, M is on the left, Bond the right - that third head in the middle is someone who is visible through the front windscreen, perhaps leaning across the bonnet.

Also, if she were in the front, wouldn't a head rest of some sort block at least a segment of her head?

There is a sort of very thin seat, it is just there for styling, you can not sit on it, there is no room for your legs

If you look closely, the head just to the right of her grey hair is facing us - I can just make out his face. I would say it’s a member of the crew leaning over the bonnet, looking into the car through the front windscreen.

Looks like a guy in the front passenger seat to me. Judy appears to be behind Craig. I say 3 people in the car. No way is the back of that head outside of the vehicle. It's just as in focus as Judy is.
Also, if she were in the front, wouldn't a head rest of some sort block at least a segment of her head?
No headrests in a DB5. I only see the back of one head; not sure what you're seeing there. If it's Judi it looks like she's in the front to me. There's a face to the right, but that's someone facing us looking through the windscreen.

My Dad's Cobra replica was allocated a 'new' numberplate a few years ago, and that was a P reg plate (1975). I assume they could do the same for a 'new' classic car; I'm not sure.

Anyway, just gald to see the original "silver beast" (no offence to JG) involved.

This might also lend itself to Bond pulling off and the two having a moment discussing it. It could be rather dramatic. A sort of pivotal scene.
