So, we have a year to wait until the release of the next Bond game. What would you like to see?

After the brilliance of Reloaded, I have to admit that I really wouldn't mind seeing an older Bond film or game modernised with Daniel Craig. Activision have a winner with Reloaded, let's hope that they use this to their advantage, and that it isn't just a one off.

I want Raven's Bond game. This may be me but I want to see Bond in the Middle-East. I think video games might be a stronger place for the locale to work than of the film franchise.

I really do hope the Raven Game sees the light of day. It looked brilliant from what we saw, didn't it.

This. It looked way too promising for it to simply disappear (and it looked fairly far along in its development too). Here's to hoping we see it.

Ditch the CALL OF DUTY mechanics - no regenerating health, no cover-based shooting, no clearly-marked objectives. The only thing CALL OF DUTY ever did was dumb video games down to the lowest common denominator.

I agree with the Shark. I'd like to see a game where you can select any of the six Bonds. The problem you run into there is that twofold. For one, you'd have to revoice the early actors, or you would wind up with another From Russia with Love. The other problem is that considering Brosnan and Connery have been used in Bond games by Ea, would Activision be able to use them?

For me it should be all about Craig (or any other Bond) - I mean not like GoldenEye, either for Wii or Reloaded.

I'd like the idea of another remake with Craig but still it doesn't matter for me. I would prefer it to be stealth 3rd person.

Oh, and I just got promoted :D

Be that as it may, HALO - the first one, at least - has a decent philosophy behind it. When Bungie made it, they decided that the player should experience no more than thirty seconds of action at once, followed by a cool-down period. CALL OF DUTY doesn't have this; it's just a constant stream of shooting.

Original story: Trying to put out a game that is linked to a movie's release date is the killer for tie-in games. An original story also gives developers a chance to try something new rather than be tied to the film.

Third person: I want to see Bond, and not just his hands.

On-line Multi-player: I said yes, but only in the best of all possible worlds. It's got to bring something new to the table and not just another deathmatch clone with 3 maps. Have a look at Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood for an original take on multi-player. How about on-line that doesn't have killing at all! Maybe you've got to remain undetected from the others? Or maybe you've got to infiltrate a base before others? The mini-mission co-op of Uncharted 2 and 3 would be great. They could keep releasing co-op missions as DLC until the cows come home. Different equipment (not just weapons) as you level up - night sight goggles etc. which would make the missions play out differently depending on your Q-Branch load-out. Here's an original idea for you, how about as you level up closer to double-O status the equipment gets better quality, but the load-out space gets smaller. Bond doesn't go in with body armor and 2 uzis.

Action and Stealth: I don't want to totally get away from big shootout beats, but mostly I want to feel like Bond and not Rambo. Fewer opponents with better AI. Blood Stone's melee finishes were a step in the right direction, but a more robust melee system couldn't hurt either. Also the level design needs a look at. Both Quantum's and Blood Stone's were woeful. Basically just game-long tunnels which Bond trudged through shooting the enemies in his way. And how about some puzzles. I don't mean like the adventuring kind, but maybe Bond has to find some information or collect something in the level, the location of which changes on every play-through but is findable because of clues. Put the clues together to work it out. Blood Stone tried this in say the Russian levels, but then told you exactly where everything was on the cellphone! Way to take the exploration out of it guys.

What do I really want... the mechanics of Uncharted 3 welded onto a Bond storyline and aesthetics.

A GTA/LA Noire-esque sandbox game, with the option to play all 6 Bonds in their respective eras.

GTA was also my preferred approach to Bond, until I played Just Cause 2. As far as I’m concerned, that already is the style a Bond game should take (perhaps with some little tweaks)

1) Huge open world, with multiple climates. You can fit sets from every Bond film ever made on there.
2) Stunning picturesque scenery. Absolutely top notch. Beautiful design throughout.
3) Vehicles: everything from scooters to fighter jets. Add in some specific Bond vehicles (those hideous snowmobile things from TWINE for example, submarine Lotus, ejector seat Aston Martin).
4) The game already allows you to perform cool looking stunts around vehicles. Just add some Bondian twists (music, cheesy fixing of bow tie or something).
5) Add some casino style mini games.
6) The ‘plot’ of the game was about some tinpot dictator with some dodgy scheme. Make that Blofeld or some made up villain (or gang of all the Bond villains, anything goes)

It’s already a really fun sandbox game, just begging to be Bonded.

From a technical point of view the game relies a lot on the endless supply of parachutes that the main character has (that's fine - it's great fun) and a hook similar to the one in Bond's belt in GoldenEye (the film), to get around quickly. You can also call in an arms dealer to supply you with guns, vehicles etc. (replace that wit Q).

The more I think of it, the whole thing sounds like JC was designed to be a Bond game, but didn't get the franchise on board.

I haven't played it yet, but from what I've seen it looks more Xander Cage than James Bond. How about a middle ground between JC2 and GTA?

I just doing get how a sandbox game would work. Bond stories are fairly linear. I feel like they would have to be. The idea of bond mid-mission going to drive a car around for fun is, well, very unbond. Cool idea but I guess from a story aspect, it's silly.

Well if you did that, I'd imagine there'd be serious repercussions. In GTA you're playing a thug, but in a Bond game you're a glorified government lackey. You can't stick it to the man. You ARE the man.

JC2 is all about action/adventure, just like Bond. GTA is much grittier, and completely city based. JC2 is, in a way, to GTA what Bond or Indiana Jones is to Heat.

Within JC2 there is a linear story - you just have to make your way to the next mission point. But around that are plenty of mini missions to do with separate factions within the game, so there is a linear element. Of course Bond is no stranger to going outside the mission. Some games specıalıse in organic narratives where your actions determine the outcome - e.g. Rain or Skyrim - no reason why Bond can't be the same. What's more Bondian than doing it your way?

Check out JC2 - there's a decent Demo on the PS3. Gives a good flavour, but really doesn't give a sense of the scale of the full game.

Bond isn't all about action/adventure. At least the best ones aren't. Part of the fun of a GTA-style Bond game would be taking taxis, picking up hookers, meeting contacts, visiting seedy clubs, casinos, hotels etc. A cosmopolitan backdrop the missions you're given.

Since when does Bond pick up hookers :D
No reason why you can't add some cosmopolitan background to it all. But the fun part of Bond is all about action/adventure. To me the rest doesn't really make a fun game.

I LIKE that idea. I was quite thrilled with what they did w/ From Russia With Love. How cool would it be to to play a 1st perston shooting game & achieve your way through the franchise; starting w/ Dr. No? ( could really give a crap about NSNA, though). How much would you pay for a game like that?

I would love a Bond game in the style of Goldeneye Reloaded with one level for each of the movies. They can even be modernized/reimagined with Daniel Craig as Bond.

Even Though It's Most Likely We'll See A SkyFall FPS To Tie In With The Film, For The 50th Anniversary I Would Really Like To See Something Special. Specifically Playing A Different Bond, And If It Was My Choice I'd Have Dalton Or Lazenby Take A Crack At The Bond Games. Original Bond Stories I Think Play Best, Because You're Not Expecting To See Anything Certain, Leaving The Mind To Wonder, And Creating A More Enjoyable Experience. Just Something Special, Like We Haven't Really Seen The Likes Of Yet. Imagine A 360/PS3 Dalton Bond Game With A Compelling Original Story (Perhaps Climaxing In The Middle-East, Or Asia?), Or Even A Game Version Of The Living Daylights Done Really Well, Giving You Damn-Near Full Control Of Bonds Actions (Driving Places, Etc.)

Then Again, Needless To Say, I'd Pay An Arm And A Leg To Play An On Her Majesty's Secret Service Video Game That Is Exact To The Movie ( With Lazenby's Likeness And All !).

I've spent well over 100 hours in JC2, finished the game twice and got the Platinum. On the surface I don't see the similarity between it and a Bond game. Especially with the more serious tone of the Craig era as there's so much cheese in JC2 it should come with a Surgeon General's Warning about cholesterol. But that's not to say it couldn't be done, just that it would really need some adaption and the right marketing. It would definitely be closer to a mix between the eyebrow raising moments of Moore with the OTT action of Brosnan. As you siad the range of weapons and vehicles would work well with Bond. It would be great to unlock some of the classics like Little Nellie and the various cars and boats. And to have available some of the OTT Q-Branch stuff (Ghetto Blaster, anyone!). I'd want to have a melee system in it too, which JC2 hasn't got at all.
While it has some potential, I just don't see the Bond games taking this direction.

It doesn't look like any other Bond game - sure. But it does fit really well with the totality of Bond films - locations, action, gadgets and stunts.

Normal first person shooters don't really fit the Bond bill for me, that's probably why I seem to be the only one gunning for this sort of Bond game. I like my FPS games to be more military (Battlefield and COD) or straight forward like Hitman.

For a Bond game I really want something that reflects the fun side of movie Bond as I see it - and that's action, adventure, stunts and gadgets.

An alternative would be a detective, heavily story driven game like Rain. But frankly that bores the [censored] out of me.

You have to make your own fun - there's nothing like taking on a base, ripping it to pieces and hijacking a chopper to finish the job - I think that's the key. I like the fact that you never have to finish a mission if you don't want to, you can always take on some mini mission or just attack some guards somewhere for a little mini fight. Or drive a car off a cliff, open the parachute, land on a boat and take it over - totally unscripted and outside of any in-game mission.

That's exactly my problem with them. It feels too loose. When I play a game, I like to feel that I have accomplished something. Sure the achievements can do that, but the Just Cause games are not tight enough. Make it open world by all means, I loved Red Dead Redemption for that. I loved making my own fun on that game, because it the storyline was tight, and you could just mess around in between quests. Go hunting, bring in bounty hunters, that sort of thing. With Just Cause it's just not linear enough. That's my two cents anyway, but to each their own, I guess. Glad you enjoy it. :)
