SkyFall not connected with Casino or Quantum.

"The movie doesn't connect with the previous two films Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. It's its own story." and "Daniel Craig says this will be Bond with a capital 'B'. "It's all in the script and we've got a great script."

Sounds more to me like Craig's The Spy Who Loved Me, coming as it does following a gap after a disappointing second film (for the general public, not for me personally; it would appear I'm in the same position now as Loomis is over The Man with the Golden Gun), but I'm sure SkyFall'll be a damn good movie -- it's got all the right talent behind it.Craig's Goldfinger? Fine by me.

But if it's another Bond classic, I will enjoy it just the same. About time Bond is back!

The plot sounds good, about stuff resuffacing from M's past to haunt her. I would agree with some people on other post that M is not a double agent. This could be Judi Dench last outing at M, IF it is I hope the next M will be the Bernard Lee, Robert Brown type. The title SkyFall sounds like a Jame Bond comic book title from the 90s by Eclips.

Ironically enough, the synopses about M's past coming back to haunt her and Bond going out to sort it all out for her, reminds me a little bit of FYEO, the short story (although, yes, there's a stench of TWINE - I prefer the scent of FYEO).
There was a bit of M's background in NEVER DREAM OF DYING. I wonder what this will entail?

Craig and co. deserve a fresh start with anyone/anything now being central to the story and villains. I'm looking forward to seeing what we get, and what Bardem will bring to the role...and just what or who is behind this "...MI6 under attack..." synopsis?

Corinne served her purpose. There's no need to bring her back. And Stana Katic is fully-booked with "Castle" commitments.I would have preferred them to stick with Quantum and some of the characters introduced in QOS, like Corinne the Canadian agent

At least the Bond girls didn't say they were Bond equals this time.
That's a very good point. Of course, in these times we are in, the women ARE Bond's equals which means that it's a moot point anyway.

Well, that's if they keep Craig's era chronically.

Casino Royale re-introduced Felix Leiter
Quantum of Solace re-introduced Bill Tanner and featured Felix Leiter
Skyfall is re-introducing Q and featuring Bill Tanner and perhaps even more
and if Craig is back for Bond 24 they'll re-introduce Moneypenny it would be to many introductions for Skyfall if Moneypenny was involved.
as for the Quantum I agree that they are just copycatting Connery's first films and that they may return to it in Bond 24 or maybe just a pre-title sequence.

With four years between movies, it's probably for the best that SKYFALL stands alone from Craig's previous outings. I'm sure elements of his character development will trickle down from CASINO ROYALE and QUANTUM OF SOLACE, but something different seems a refreshing prospect at this moment in time.
I couldn't agree with you more. New day, new dawn...let's boogie on now, back to Bond.

From DigitalSpy:
"The movie doesn't connect with the previous two films Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. It's its own story." and "Daniel Craig says this will be Bond with a capital 'B'. "It's all in the script and we've got a great script."
It'd be a good idea to explore new bad guys. And if the rumors are true (that the treachery afoot is due to M's past), then the QUANTUM organization couldn't be involved because she'd never HEARD of them in CR.
I'd gotten the sense that QUANTUM was to be the new S.P.E.C.T.R.E. (since McClory holds the rights to the latter). It might be interesting if If OO7 (Craig or whomever) went against that sinister organization again; like Connery did in TB. I thought Mr. White was a cool villian; though on the surface, he seems as passive as a pharmacist, he's really as treacherous as Blofeld could ever be.

It'd be nice to have the Bond imagery and motiffs we know and love again, but I guess it's also what Mendes see's as being fundamental 'Capital B' themes. Exciting stuff though!

That's not an issue any more, as once Sony acquired MGM, then bought the Casino Royale property from Cloumbia, then McClory's rights, MGM/EON now controls all film rights to the James Bond franchise. They could make Blofeld/SPECTRE movies if they wanted to, and may do someday.
After Skyfall, I would like to see Bond finish off Quantum before discovering a new special executive to oppose.
