There's an announcement on the Film Score Monthly boards of a new 2 disc CD release of Burt Bacharach's score to 1967's Casino Royale.

Here's the link:

Sounds good; from that link:

Is a 2-CD contains the following:

- CD1: Full Score in Mono, mixed to Stereo in Protools, and I must say the result is SPECTACULAR (73 minutes).
- CD2: Album version, from one copy of the Album Master in Stereo preserved in the vaults of Sony Music Spain in very good conditions (yes, the album was released in several European countries by RCA, now owned by Sony, and we were lucky that they still retained a copy).
- The package includes a book of 52 (yes, 52) pages in color

Wow, this is not something that I would have expected. The Kritzerland release is very good and it's nice to see that this release isn't just a reissue of something we already have but something that will be in a class all by itself.

I have received last week the cd, and I want to recommended. Although 2 or 3 cues don't sound as finest as the rest, the booklet and the cd 1 is "a must have".

I am such a sucker for Bond music double dipping, but Casino Royale 1967 has been one of the worse for my wallet. For those that missed the 2012 expanded version of Casino Royale before it went out of print, you now have a second chance. In celebration of the 50th anniversary release of Bond, Quartet has re-released their 2CD set of Casino Royale. This is great news as it allows fans who missed out, to purchase it as a reasonable price. Once small note is that Quartet has decided to go back and remaster CD2, which was the original soundtrack, mastered once again from the damaged first generation tapes (same as the 2011 Krizerland release).

So there ya go. Anyone who missed out can now buy it and those that bought it already the first time it was released, now need to make a choice weather to plunk down another $30 bucks for the remastered 2nd edition. I'll save a line from my album review for here, but apparently "Casino Royale is too much for one soundtrack release".

Lucky me. I somehow missed out on the 2011 edition, so there's a new chance for me. Any clue about the difference between the booklets (first one 52, now 24 pages)? Hope they didn't cut anything from Gergely's text.

I received the album today. Haven't compared the sound quality of the two versions yet, but for those curious about the overall package, here it is:

The liner notes have been scaled back and have been re-written to accommodate the 24 page booklet. The information is still great and during my skim through the pages it seems like all the topics were summarized better than they were in 42 page book. The artwork is different too. The 42 page booklet had a lot of full screen pages devoted just to one image or a collection of images. Space is smartly utilized with many of the same pictures appearing, but instead maybe as a smaller thumbnail.

The 2nd edition comes in a 2CD jewel case (no cardboard outer box this time). The 24 page booklet fits inside the jewel case now and the original 8 page booklet from the original jewel case has been discarded (it was just a bunch of pictures). The CDs have new artwork that are reminiscent of the 2nd edition Varese release.
