Hi ... my brother just found this quote on the Lee Child character Jack Reacher page on wikipedia
"The schedule for the Reacher series - previously one-per-year - was stepped up with 61 HOURS/WORTH DYING FOR both released in 2010. This was done in order to make room for CHILD PENNING THE NEXT JAMES BOND NOVEL for Ian Fleming Publications in 2012."
Do we think this is true?? I remember reading that Lee Child was offered the centenary novel and turned it down, and I think he said he'd never write a Bond novel (although he IS allowed to change his mind lol).
And why would it be on a wiki page and not officially announced yet??

I wouldn't mind lee child writing the follow up especially if it meant it coming out next year. I would also like to see Brad Meltzer James Twining and Philip Margon.

Probably wishful thinking of a fan, nothing else. There'd be an announcement by IFP long before someone on wiki could get the scoop. It's odd that Child has two books out in one year, but most likely entirely for his own reasons, not to make room for some external affair.

I expect 2013 may be the year the next Bond novel comes out, for obvious reasons. We'll see.

Still can't really see it. Two Reachers in 2010 means Child and his publisher must have known about a need for some extra room for Child well in advance, say since about mid 2009, no? The new book wasn't even announced by then. And didn't Child during last year even say something about having been asked twice, both times refusing the deal? Can't really believe he would have done so had he been on board the Bond gig.

Ah, thanks. Sorry, must have read that only last year. So ok, he may have changed his mind, and not just ten or twenty, but a full 180 degrees.

But if so we ought to get a whiff of that also from a different direction than Wikipedia. Maybe wikileaks could give a hint?

Well, if it had any beef to it then there seems to be a security leak at IFP since June. Never had that before, did we?

Then again the leak could be on Child's side, higher likelihood with numerous people who'd have to know about it either way.

I understand but the question mark still suggests that this Lee Child thing may be a legitimate rumor from a legitimate news/rumor site as opposed to fabricated dreck, which is exactly what it is.

Agreed, I think it's the way the series is headed i.e. bestselling thriller writers. Not sure if it's the right direction. Prefer a bit more of a lit thriller approach more
In tune to Fleming. But hey ho. Child can write a very good action thriller. But is he a real Bond geek?

Let's not give this thing any legitimacy by calling it a rumor. It's a blatant fabrication courtesy of a Wikipedia troll. They cited IFP's website, which obviously has no press release because we would have heard the "news" from The Book Bond first!
