Truly sad. She provided two of the best moments in the series: "a little stiffness" and "It's true!" Au revoir, Ruby

What a shame. She was a brave and beautiful woman, and a very good comedy actress, too.

I literally just went, "Oh, no!" :(

...and only 65, too. :(

Damn... but it's rather appropriate that you posted this, hilly, considering your user name and who Scoular played.

Rest in peace, Angela.

"Just a slight stiffness coming on... in the shoulder." ; this is what happened to me when I read this...

We usually forget that there were not only Tracy in On her majesty's secret service, but also Ruby the girl of Piz Gloria... although the movie is dominated by Diana Rigg and her talent, this kind of characters, even less present, has also its place into the legend... Rest in peace, Ruby, room number : 8...

I said "Oh my!" so don't feel bad, Mr. B. She also played "Buttercup" in the 67 CR. The world has lost a great water tester.

How very sad. And especially, let us not forget, for her husband Leslie Phillips.

As Ruby, Angela Scoular had another, more subtle funny line in OHMSS, thus:-

English girl (Joanna Lumley), on "Sir Hilary" taking his leave of the girls to meet Blofeld - "Of course, I know what he's allergic to."

Ruby Bartlett "Besants!"

Think about it.

RIP, Angela Phillips (nee, Scoular)

How very sad; too young.

Hard not to feel sorry for Leslie Phillips; always comes across as a lovely chap.

Very sad news indeed. She was one of the few actresses to be featured in two Bond films -- most memorably as Ruby, but also Buttercup in the '67 Casino Royale.

I don't know whether to remember her as Buttercup or Ruby. But she was talented. There is no doubt. Au revoir, Ms. Scoular. You will be missed.

I came across an interesting aside about Angela Scoular in the Guardian newspaper's obituary of her last week. According to this obituary, she appeared in a 1967 TV adaptation of Wuthering Heights as Cathy, and it was her performance in that role which inspired Kate Bush, some ten years later, to write the hit song "Wuthering Heights".

We remember her as a Bond girl and as Mrs Leslie Phillips, but who knew that she had, apparently, inadvertently inspired the writing of a number 1 hit?

That's very very sad to read, it seems she was in a difficult way in the last period of her life.
