Perhaps Mrs. 008 and I can make it, seeing as Vegas is her favorite city.

Bryce, can you fill me in on what BCW is and what transpires at DTBB?

Proper mission brief for you 008.

BCW was known as the Bond Collectors Weekend created by Matt Sherman in 1998 - Initially just that, it went on to become tours and having Bond actors and actresses, authors, members of the Ian Fleming Foundation and became a force of nature for Bond fans the world over. Matt's here on CBn...er..somewhere...I think saw him in the loo...Drop him a PM.

DTBB - I decided in 2005 to create an event that gave attendees a Bond like experience and define it as "Agent Recertification" - Dare To Be Bond - "Why be the Fan when you can be the Man." - We did three of them between 2006 and 2008 all in Las Vegas and each with a theme based on one of the films.

So, Matt and I got to talking (for a little over four hours) and are getting our ducks in a row presently. He mentioned that it was a "Do Over" of our previous Bond events. Hence the title based on the Hangover movies and the fact we'll be doing this in Vegas....

"Get ready to have trouble remembering a great weekend"

Celebrating fifty years of the cinematic 007.

"Let It Ride."

008,
I have attended one of the BCW and 2 of the DTBB and they are well worth it. One of the DTBB events is quite possibly the best weekend of my life, I made many great friends.

Here is an old thread on DTBB3 from 2008 to get an idea of the event.

Dare To Be Bond left broken hearts and shattered detritus between Glitter Gulch and Baja, California. Think “VIP access at the Playboy Club and caviar stuffed with lobster.”

Bond Collectors’ Weekends' standard operating procedure included collectibles sales and auctions public and private, molecular gastronomy, bull sessions with the stars, and destroying numerous motor vehicles. Think “Climb in the Bathosub and stab someone on Bourbon Street while Vic Flick accompanies you on the guitar.”

Uh, now that I can recall, we had a few Bond actors join the fun on location:

Barbara Bouchet, Miss Moneypenny in Casino Royale
Bernie Casey, Felix Leiter in Never Say Never Again
Bruce Glover, Mr. Wint in Diamonds Are Forever
David Hedison, Felix Leiter in Live and Let Die & License To Kill
Don Stroud, Heller in License To Kill
Geoffrey Holder, Baron Samedi in Live and Let Die
George Lazenby, James Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Gloria Hendry, Rosie Carver in Live and Let Die
Lana Wood, Plenty O'Toole in Diamonds Are Forever
Lois Chiles, Dr. Holly Goodhead in Moonraker
Maud Adams, Andrea Anders in The Man With The Golden Gun, Octopussy in Octopussy
Max Vesterhalt, Casino Girl in For Your Eyes Only
Richard Kiel, Jaws in The Spy Who Loved Me & Moonraker
Tanya Roberts, Stacey Sutton in A View To A Kill
Virginia Hey, Rubavitch in The Living Daylights

and some other equally charming special guests:

Alan Stepheson, Top Vintage OO7 Collector
Bruce Scivally, author, James Bond: The Legacy, producer/writer: The Bond DVD Documentaries
Dan Haggerty, Tomorrow Never Dies and License To Kill Airplane/Photography Manager
Danny Biederman - The Incredible World Of Spy-Fi/Million-dollar OO7 Collector
David Reinhardt - Ian Fleming Foundation VP/Top Book Collector & Dealer
Dean Williams - Pepperfinger, A Pepper For Tomorrow, OO7 DVD Designer
Deborah Lipp - author, The Ultimate James Bond Fan Book
Don McGregor - author, The Quasimodo Gambit, GoldenEye, TND Cards Series
Doug Redenius - Ian Fleming Foundation VP, Million-dollar OO7 Collector
Jeff Marshall - lithographer, The Bond Limited Editions Series
John Cork - author, The Bond Legacy, Bond Girls Are Forever: The Women of James Bond, producer/writer: The Bond DVD Documentaries
John Griswold - author, The Annotated Ian Fleming
Lawrence Keller - producer/director, The Guns Of James Bond
Michael Di Leo - author, The Spy Who Thrilled Us
Paul Kyriazi - author, How To Live The Bond Lifestyle
Paul Meyers - security director/coordinator, License To Kill
Raymond Benson - Ten-Time Bond Novelist/author of The James Bond Bedside Companion
Robert Short - Oscar-winning FX creator, Diamonds Are Forever
Steven Jay Rubin - author, The James Bond Encyclopedia
Timothy Napier-Moxon, Strangways in Dr. No
Tom Mankiewicz - screenwriter, Diamonds Are Forever, Live and Let Die, The Man With The Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me
Vic Flick - Bond Signature Theme Guitarist/Lead for seven James Bond Film Scores
Etc. including General Oleg Kalugin of KGB and Chase Brandon of CIA, various henchpersons, Robert Culp, David Carradine, and more...

I'll call them and ask them to join us in Lost Wages, as soon as I find my address book. I think it's buried under my little Octopussy.

Um, what were we talking about?

"Because you can only blot out a 50th Anniversary once."

Shouldn't be a problem.

*note to self: Check with Matt and both agree that there IS a pool down there*

*double check with Matt and actually look*

*make sure Lana's room faces the pool*

Right...Added to the list.

There's the logistics and such and then there is the ever growing list of Top 20 things overheard at the "BondOver" - We could say more, but since Section 26/Paragraph 5 prohibits us from doing so (and both of us are wearing ace bandages from laughing so hard) we can't comment at this time.

Okay...Just one...

"Who the Hell invited Shatner?...and where are my pants? Anybody?...."

The events are going to be great....The aftermath...Not so much...

You may want to book an extra day....and a saline drip....

Possibly pre-book at Shrublands...But that's not our event.....Just the results of it.

Having reviewed the spreadsheet Matt sent me, we should be able to pull this off for $4,914,007.14...

Hence, the registration fees may be just a bit higher...

It may go up a little...Matt was lean in estimating the cost and charges of my Harem of Bryce girls...It's not the clothes, jewelry or spa treatments...But what is it about girls and shoes!?!...

Shoes are always flattering. You never try on a pair of shoes and think 'my bum looks big in these'.

The sad part of it is that he's right...Those eight inch pumps don't do you justice though....Even with the flat heel. Cute, but not functional.

Is this still progressing? The DTBB web site appears to be inactive, although the registration is valid through August of this year.
