The Book Bond points us in the direction of cover illustrator Dan Mogford's blog where the Win, Lose Or Die cover has been revealed. Very nice.

I hope the Licence Renewed cover has been proofread before going to print, though; there are numerous mistakes on the back cover. I'd hate to see what is shaping up to be a very nice set of books marred by lousy proofing!

(Just realised Jeffery Deaver's name is misspelt on the recent UK hardback Gardner editions. Oops!)

Those were not easy questions. I was surprised he got enough entries to do a random drawing. Also thought I had a better chance.

I didn't win. :(

Just got my LR and FSS paperbacks. They are gorgeous! It's a dream come true to finally get new printings of these books. A bonus is that they are trade size and match the Richie Fahey Fleming paperbacks size-wise, so these line up on the shelf next to those beautifully! It's going to be a hard wait until May for the next set. :)

I've received my Licence Renewed but am waiting on For Special Services. zencat's right - these are going to make a beautiful set. Unlike the US paperbacks, these are the same beautiful new typesettings as last year's hardcover reprints. No introductions, but that's no great loss, IMO.

It will be a tough wait until the next four releases in May, but it's going to be fun collecting these throughout 2012. We're lucky Bond fans to have these reprinted at last.

(And I'm relieved to see all of the errors that were present on the Licence Renewed cover on Dan Mogford's blog were corrected before print.)

Nice to hear they line up nicely on the shelf with the previoud hardcover releases. I'll definitely need to get them.

Someone refresh my memory, please - I thought we were going to get Kindle versions in the US too or is that just wishful thinking at this time?

Ahh, I answered question 8 incorrectly! (I thought Nena Blofeld was the answer.) PS Congratulations.

Agian I have odered the Licence Renewed and For Special Services. Do we know if all of the John Gardner novels will be relased in hardback editions, and I assume the awful artwork that featured the so what girls for the us market have been rejected

The Scorpius one is pretty gaudy, but the rest look great. Love Licence to Kill, Win, Lose Or Die and Death Is Forever in particular.

I kinda like Scorpius. The green reminds me of the US hardcover first. I really like the choice of a machete for LTK. I was curious what they would use, and that had never occurred to me. Notice they used the American spelling for Licence. I expect that's a mistake and will be changed.

Also interesting that they haven't credited the screenwriters on the cover of Licence to Kill.

Nice covers and interesting they bring Licence to Kill into the fold. Presumably we can expect GoldenEye as well, then?

Yep, GoldenEye is part of this set. I was very surprised to see the novelizations included. But I love it.

Here's my page showing all the books with release dates (which keep shuffling).

Surprising, but realistic. LTK and GE are the strongest of Gardner's second half, requiring JG to keep within pre-prescibed plot lines and avoid twist after twist, betrayal after betrayal, becoming even more fanciful.

IMO, LTK is one of the strongest stories, and with JG's word added, one of the best novels of the lot, with LR and FSS possibly as superior only.

This is going to be a fine set, I especially like Scorpius and Win, Lose or Die. Nice covers! Also great to see LTK included (even though I don't agree with David, I think it's probably Gardners weakest book in the series).

I think I must buy this whole set, it's too tempting not to!

Role of Honor and Nobody Lives Forever now shipping in the U.S. Pegasus has done some something with the cover art this time that's a little off-putting for us nuts who wanted/expected a uniform set. Pics and my attempt to explain below.

I suppose it's much easier to get behind the secrets of quantum dynamics than it is to understand why they opted for those changes, is it?

What bums me out is the next two books return to the full Pegasus design (according to the pics), so these will stick out on the shelf like a sore thumb. Weird. But like I said, doesn't matter to those who are buying these to read them.

How strange.

Is there a question to be asked there?

With a set that will forever be its own entity, one would think - Set. And maybe, Uniformity.

That is too weird - so are you collecting both the US and UK Gardner sets Zen, or just the Pegasus?
