Well, with the American release of By Royal Command it appears that we've come to the end of Charlie Higson's tenure as (Young) Bond author--at least for now. With that mind, I ask you to rank his five novels in order of preference.

Also, mods, can we make this a poll? Thanks.

My rankings of Higson's Young Bond books are as follows:

1. Blood Fever
2. Double Or Die
3. By Royal Command
4. Hurricane Gold
5. SilverFin

Only way I can do this.

1. Blood Fever/By Royal Command
2. Double or Die/Hurricane Gold
3. SilverFin

And these rankings are not firm. Double or Die continues to rise. At some point I will re-read them all and everything might change. In context, SilverFin might jump right up there.

Blood Fever and Double or Die are both equally good if you ask me. I really can't choose between them. Blood Fever is a real slice of Fleming mixed with children's adventure, but Double or Die is a really brilliant thriller as well, I actually read in only two or three sittings. They're both fantastic and if feels like such a crime to rank one over the other.

I say BRC is his best, followed by DoD and BF, then SF and finally HG. I have to reread it, but the only book I was never completely captivated by was HG, but I'll definitely be giving it another go soon.

Blood Fever without a doubt for me. To me it felt the most like Fleming. Plus I love James going through painful ordeals like the swamp and the bugs. Never understood why Bond doesn't suffer more in the movies.
