Cinema Blend source says actress being considered for villainous role as Quantum mastermind

I normally don't go in for posting trash rumors from dubious websites, but I love some me some Rachel Weisz! (And not just because she believes she's related to Houdini.)

Article seems to have forgotten about Electra King and TWINE.

For what it's worth:
http://www.cinemable...lain-17780.html

For the record, not sure I'm ready for another female villain. Madam Quantum?

sounds good, but dont make her the head of Quantum. Like the sound of a female villain who Bond has to go toe-to-toe with, literally.

Maybe this site isn't so dubious after all. They were apparently the site to break the news that Black Widow was in Iron Man 2, and they say the source on this is trusted.

If true, the thing I'd find most surprising is that they are continuing the Quantum storyline. Kind of feel like them changing the end of QOS was a clear sign that they wanted to break away from the "trilogy" and free up B23 to be a stand-alone.

But even if true today, doesn't mean true tomorrow. Especially with the studio ownership situation in flux.

About time we had a decent femme fatale.

Rachel Weisz is playing the wife of Craig's character in his latest movie "Dream House.

Once again like the Olivia Wilde rumour, the press are getting their wires crossed.

While I like Rachel Weisz, I'm leary of the big name stunt casting that plagued the Brosnan films.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, I want to see Rachel Weisz as Miss Moneypenny not a femme fatale.

As much as I love Ms Weisz(as everyone knows), I can't see this happening.

Is she really big enough (or bad enough) to qualify as "stunt casting." I think she's just a good, solid British actress, and her casting would not be unlike Diana Rigg in OHMSS or Honor Blackman in GF.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, I want to see Rachel Weisz as Miss Moneypenny not a femme fatale.

Yeah, she'd be terrific as Moneypenny.

Article seems to have forgotten about Electra King and TWINE.

Most casual viewers of TWINE would probably tell you that Renard was the villain. That's one of the problems with that movie. It had terrible execution and her role as a villain was ridiculously overshadowed. That was also the point of her role, to be the person pulling the strings, but the movie was far too traditional so it just never really felt like that. Renard had the big villain finale with Bond and he was built up as the main villain the entire movie till the very end even after she was dead. I think it would have worked a lot better to remove the Bond/Electra bit at the end and just have Bond go straight to defusing the sub situation and then later have Bond figure Electra's role out and have a Casino Royale like scene (Dryden's office) with her. There's so many problems with that movie though I'm not sure if this would be an improvement.

And on the subject of Weisz. I'm not against it. Probably too early to even think about casting. IMO if this rumor is even close to being legit, then the details are probably wrong and she's being considered for a more standard role like Moneypenny. If she does indeed play the villain, I just hope they're smart about it. Peter Morgan seems like a capable chap, I just don't really want them to fall into the usual female traps that they seem to. I mean every Bond girl seems to think they're the independent, strong, smart - not like all the other girls and that almost always turns out to be false (like Denise Richards is a nuclear physicist false).

Personally I'd be fine with her in bond 23. I'd be fine with her as a villain and Quantum having a female head. What I'm not fine with is the head appearing in bond 23.

I want to get teased With quantum lets dance it as bit let's wet out appetites for 3-4 more films.

I don't think Weiz cast would be for the head of Quantum. I wouldn't be surprised if the rumor of her as villain is true.

We'll see Again this source has a proven track record and sites like cinemaBlend and Moviehole.net don't like posting BS they prefer to get their info right (unlike tabloids like the mirror) So again I'm not gonna say this is total BS nor am i gonna say this 100% right but if they want to make November 2011 casting should be soon right?

While I'd certainly approve of Ms. Weisz being in a Bond film, I'm not really inclined to believe any rumors until the MGM financial situation is actually resolved. At this point, BOND 23 may or may not even happen, so I'm not really inclined to believe that any headway has been made in the casting department considering that we don't even know if the film will even be made any time soon.

Good god no.

She isn't that great looking, and her acting doesn't amount to much either.

We need more Irma Bunts and Rosa Klebbs.

I'd be cool with this, if it turned out to be real. That being said, I feel that it is too early for casting rumors for Bond 23, given the MGM situation.

Weisz working with Craig on 'Dream House' makes it an easy thing to put together...

What I read out of this is, that they haven´t stopped going forward with the planning - even though the general opinion here is - the film is in limbo for the time being, so why bother with thinking about it?

And while actual production may be on hold, that doesn’t mean these films’ producers aren’t planning their next step, so that once things are go, they’ll be off and running.

This is what always made perfect sense to me and obviously to others, too. Its not solely wishful thinking on my part but a logical action to take.

I think some people just pout there noses kneedeep in negativity and sell it as reality check. I disagree here...this article or rather the writers of it seem to be inclined to not repeat bs but quote a source, that has been proven trustworthy in the past, so giving it the stamp of "Oh no, can´t be true, because"... is stupid.

Finally, a Bond 23 rumour that I hope turns out to be true!

Rumours cant always be discounted off-hand, recently on I think it was the MI6 forums someone pulled out a lot of Casino Royale and QoS rumors from early on in the productions that turned out to be surprisingly accurate.

Fair enough, but would you still see the movie if she were in it? You may not think she's much of an actress, but she's a step up from the ladies we had during the Brosnan era and I'd say she's in the same league as Craig's last two leading ladies.

First off, i'm very happy that Quantum is back/being resolved - would've seriously undermined the previous 2 films to have simply forgotten about them.

A female 'Blofeld'... It's not a bad idea. I'm sure Mendes is worried about the mistake this approach in TWINE turned out. And Weisz is a capable actress - she was great The Constant Gardner and The Fountain.

I'm resisting the Blofeld pussy stroking gags.....

Might be interesting.

But do you know what a search engine is?

Anyhoo, very early in the rumor season. We haven't even had the usual Jessica Alba/Megan Fox stuff yet, nor the latest variation on 'Connery to play Bond's dad'. Remember, it isn't true until Gulshan Grover confirms it.
