I really think this is a spectacular cover. Probably the best of the US covers (although I still love DOD). I think Richardson has captured a dynamic perspective and a sense of movement that you didn't really get with Walker. Love the light coming through the windows. Also great to have the Young Bond Girl on a cover finally.

So what do people think about Kev Walker not doing this last cover? He's been such a big part of the YB universe, it's quite a surprise. I don't have any inside info on why he didn't do it. Back in April '09 I was told (and reported on my site) that he was preparing sketches for BRC. Then in September I learned about Richardson. It could be Walker provided the basic design concept but was unable to commit to the full painting so they brought in Richardson?
Whatever the case, Richardson certainly delivered.

I agree. It's neck and neck between the two. Great job.I really think this is a spectacular cover. Probably the best of the US covers (although I still love DOD).

But DoD is still my favorite cover of the series.

You know, it's a little bitter sweet, this. This may be the last YB cover reveal for, well, who knows how long.

Have you guys noticed the new treatment of the lettering below the YB logo numbering the book with a number now instead of a word? It's a small change, but I like it.
Agreed. Wonder if it is better meant to grab the attention of someone who is browsing in a bookstore... "Hey! This is a new series. I should pick up the other four books."

Really hope not. Want it back to being a guarentee of at least one new Bond book a year.

Just got confirmation that, yes, this is the plan.Have you guys noticed the new treatment of the lettering below the YB logo numbering the book with a number now instead of a word? (...) Expecting they'll probably do this on future printings of all the other books.

Also chatted up the sales clerk who worked in the kids section of the Barnes and Noble about how wonderful Higson's work is, and how I'd highly recommend it to parents with young boys looking for a fun, mature adventure series that will improve their reading skills and hopefully spark an interest in Bond. Can't wait to crack it open.

Yeah they didn't have a copy of THE ENEMY which I was really looking forward to nabbing as well. Looks like I'll be taking a side trip to Borders one of these days.

I think it's because these audiobooks are really mostly sold institutionally...libraries, schools, and such. So they ask a premium. Like back in the early days of VHS. To buy one cost $100 because the business was really about selling rental copies to stores, not individuals. What's the deal with the audiobook costing $100? That's crazy expensive.

That's interesting. Makes sense given the target audience for the books. Thanks, zen.I think it's because these audiobooks are really mostly sold institutionally...libraries, schools, and such.
