Well, we've seen Bond fighting, spying, killing, *ugh* you know what, in many different scenes, in many different hotels and sometimes more than once in a film.

So, which one of them is your favourite and why?

Quantum of Solaces without a doubt. I love the retro vibe it gives off. Bond finding fields, escaping arrest etc..

I love the Tomorrow Never Dies one as well. One of the most intense scenes Brosnan ever did.

There are many:

Dr. No - with the precautions B)

From Russia with Love - inspecting the room, calling room service while throwing the phone on the bed in a careless way (I try to copy that myself anytime I call room service  ).

Goldfinger - Jill and Bond, the Golden Girl moment

Thunderball - how Bond handles the intruder and chats with Felix

Casino Royale (1967) - I found that scene with fake Bond and Goodthighs rather amusing

On Her Majesty's Secret Service - arriving in the Aston Martin, "take care of those gloves", chitchat with Manuel, ...

The Man with the Golden Gun - Bond getting information out of Andrea

The Spy Who Loved Me - "I think you just delivered it", Bond revealing how XXX's lover got killed

Moonraker - "How do you kill 5 hours in Rio if don't samba?"

Licence to Kill - arriving with that huge case of cash, Miss Kennedy, "fresh flowers every day"

Casino Royale - Bond and Vesper's already iconic shower scene

QOS gets the vote over CR

Why????

I've used the "stationary" line myself, but I would never get my DJ wet

QoS, both the arrival ("teachers on sabbatical who've won the lottery" line and stationary line) and Bond's escape from MI6. Especially Bond's escape, one of my favorite Bond scenes of them all. I love the way he takes out the guards in the elevator and the cocky, casual way he walks around the ledges and picks up the conversation with M like nothing has happened. Brilliant stuff.

Although not a big fan of FYEO, I always liked the scene when Bond goes into his hotel room, turns up the hot water and the steam reveals the contact point with Ferrara written on the mirror - Tofana 10 a.m. followed by a cut to the sign of Tofana, revealing the location.

I also think Moore looks very cool in that scene with the shoulder holster exposed. You don't see a lot of scenes with him in the shoulder holster, aside from LALD. He seems more like a secret agent in that.

I also like the OP hotel scene where Bond walks to through the glamous outdoor check-in with all the girls in bikinis, his banter with the clerk and the dinner scene with Magda.

TB has a lot of good hotel scenes as well.

"take care of those gloves"

With a name like yours, O.H.M.S.S., you should know that the line is "take care of those clubs"; Bond plans on going golfing the next morning before he's kidnapped by Draco's men, remember? B)

The scene between Rog and Anya in one of my fave Rog scenes so that my just be my favourite tho the Golden Girl GF scene is legendary and the Bros-Paris TND scenes (before & after her death)may just be Bros' best scenes of his tenure...

My Dutch subtitles translated it as "handschoenen" (which is Dutch for gloves), so they made a mistake there and I went along with it. I don't think that's entirely my fault. I think the line is still great, it's more how he said it anyway.

Honorable mentions to: Dr. No and FRWL for spy movie goodness (bonus points to the latter for Tatiana scene), Thunderball for Bond handing Fiona her shoes, OHMSS for "I can think of something more sociable to do," CR for dinner jacket and shower scenes, QOS for "stationery" and confrontation with M.

But the winner, for some bizarre reason, is TMWTGG, whether it's Bond somewhat disturbingly getting information out of Andrea or Bond somewhat disturbingly making love to Andrea as Goodnight is forced to sleep in the closet. Don't ask me why I voted the way I did, nothing related to Golden Gun makes the slightest lick of sense.

And for the record, if Brosnan didn't have to go and bite Teri Hatcher's shoulder in TND or at least had a less weak response to her "too close to comfort" remark, I might have given that scene some serious consideration.

TURN named my favorite scene: Bond checking into the (forgive my phonics) Shivnivas(?) hotel at the poolside desk, and later swapping lines with Magda over champers. The music, the way the background arches were lit and the beautiful people in evening dress just combined to make the scene reminiscent of the best of anything from Thunderball and OHMSS.

I made a compilation tape of all the 'Clubs & Casinos' music from the films, which I play endlessly every Christmas. The background music from all the scenes mentioned so far appears on it. It really sets the mood when your'e popping a cork or blending some martinis.

My own personal moment came when my girlfriend and I were having dinner in Kristopher's Steak House at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas. There I was, in my white dinner jacket, a bottle of bubbly in an ice bucket at my elbow, with my favorite redhead seated across from me. I looked up from my custom-broiled T-bone and said, "I've made it! I've wanted to do something like this ever since I saw Diamonds are Forever when I was twelve!"

Which reminds me: nobody's mentioned the bridal suite at the Whyte House yet. (No doubt the reasons for why not will come rolling in now...)

I like DAF, but what I always considered some of the weaker points of the movie is the kitsch of Las Vegas, should not be Bond's taste I'd say.

With the exception of DN, it should always be in a suite. With DN basically introducing Bond, the luxury hotel suite has long been a stucture of the Bond film series, giving 007 comfortable surroundings to rest in while bringing those larger-than-life villains to justice. Q's visit to Bond's suite in LTK is a standout, while Oddjob's karate-chop to Bond in the GF kitchen suite is also good. Bond's room in AVTAK reminds me of FRWL, especially with the bug in the lamp. I still say that I like the dinner jacket scene in CR best of all, using a suite to show off formalwear that upstages Bond's own tuxedo that he brought with him ("I have a dinner jacket").

My favorite is the Dr No hair across the door sequence- followed by FRWL checking for bugs. There hasn't been a scene like that in quite some time, actually. I always associate that kind of scene from the Fleming novels.

I know. I'd like these little things to make a comeback. It was slightly touched upon in Quantum of Solace. Perhaps they can expand upon it in the future. Slow the pace down and make it less about moving onto the next set piece.

I agree. Nice to see a hotel scene on QoS. I could see Craig checking for bugs next time. B)

I agree with both of those, Turn! Love the FYEO hotel room, too, with the beautiful view of the slopes from the balcony. And you are right about Bond's fantastic entrance into the hotel in Octopussy. He walks past lots of girls in bikinis and two of them admire him as he checks in.

Other great hotel scenes include FRWL, TSWLM, QOS, CR (arrival in Montenegro plus in bed with Vesper in Venice) and OHMSS.

I'm surpirided that only a few of you guys consider CR's hotel scenes as the best. And I'm not talking only about the "dinner jacket" scenes but also about the "Starewell fight" which is, as far as I'm concerned, the best fighting scene in the franchise!

QOS definitely, just after Fields is found dead. Not only was it so BOND, it reminded me of Moore sneaking around the ledges of the palace in Octopussy.

OHMSS

A great shot as the Aston comes to a halt ready for the valet to park, a beautifully relaxed atmosphere as Bond takes a seat for a spot of Chemin de fer (spelling?), this leads to the re-introduction of Tracy and a romantic drink and banter in the classy dinning room, onto a short but brutal fight with a mysteriously menacing henchman all topped off with a healthy bout of sex..... On the Bond performance sheet I think that is every box ticked and a location well used!
