I actually think it could.

Just imagine your typical Street Fighter game, only with James Bond characters, as well as Bond related attacks (gun shot replacing a fireball, Odjobs hat and so on), not to mention levels.

James Bond VS Dr No, with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, or Mayday VS Jaws aboard the Drax space station.

You would start off with about eight characters, including

James Bond (Daniel Craig)
Jaws
Mayday
Dr No (especially with those hands)
Elvis (weak character, but very quick)
Wai Lin (perfect)
006 (Sean Bean)
Red Grant (he seems fit enough).

And as you progress you unlock more characters

Odjob
James Bond (each of the past actors)
Baron Samedi (ah ha ha ha ha)
Max Zorin (more power)
Stamper

Levels:

Fort knox
Golden gate bridge
Piz gloria
MI6 (outside of the building, seen from the Brosnan flicks)
Space station
Volcano
Brad whitaker's war room (imagine that, with cannons and guns going off in the background).

Imagine in multiplayer, Sean Connery against Daniel Craig!!

At least it would be different.

Part of me is impossibly giddy at the thought of a James Bond fighter, and part of me just would shake his head. The larger part is the giddy one though. Considerably larger. Still, if it were to happen, I'd like to see a pretty big roster. Throw in some generics, too. And maybe team battles. Basically right now my brain is just slapping James Bond music and renders over Tenkaichi Budokai 3 B)

Definitely not Elvis. Virtually no-one outside of the hardcore Bond community knows who he is, and far fewer still care about him. However, Xenia Onatopp, Francisco Scaramanga, and Felix Leiter would be good additions.

HA! I am so into Street Fighter right now. I think this would be awesome! I think the real showdown would be Connery verses Moore. And they should all have some good taunts too. Like Roger Moore Bond when landing an Ultra should just say 'what a helpful chap' as it finishes. And Red Grant would just be yelling 'kiss my foot!' Blofeld should be in it and have like an Ultra attack that is just persian cats flying across the screen.

Get Capcom on this right now!

Imo, Atari and Namco/Namco-Bandai have consistently proven themselves to be better at developing fighters. Capcom is better suited to DMC, RE, Megaman, etc. Street Fighter is great fun, but in the scheme of fighters, the SF series is kind of pale. True, SF has become something of an icon, but I'd take a damn good fighter that's forgotten by the masses over one remembered for decades that's only so-so. Of course, though, one hopes it would achieve both massive popularity and great gameplay.

Played SFIV. Still muck around on it every now and again. Fun game, don't get me wrong, but I've never been that big a fan of the SF series *shrug* Always found more enjoyment from anime fighters and the Tekken games (granted I haven't played a Tekken game beyond Tekken 3). And MK used to be great, back in the day.

well consdiering Fighting games is the only stle of game i SUCK at i would probably say no but i do love Daniel Craig's bond so maybe.

Personally why not have a bond game that has everything we fans want. Driving Fighting Gambling gorgous locations third person cover mode (I like my bond in first person thank you very much) Free running and interactive enviorment.

I'd wait 5 years easily if it meant a game that good.

i think it would be lame. i mean, james bond doesn't really translate into mortal kombat. it doesn't make a lot of sense, either.

Still, at least it would be different, rather than the same old first person shooter year after year, trying to be the next Goldeneye or Call of Duty.

I did like QOS though, and also Agent Under Fire was quite memorable.

If done right, a James Bond fighter has the potential to be one of the best games in the series. However, I get the feeling they'd probably rush it slightly to make a deadline, and poof, there goes that hope. What they should do is get the Japanese on it. Have I played bad Japanese video games? Yes. But on the whole, video games made in Japan are consistently better, because the Japanese companies are concerned solely with providing entertainment. European and North American companies release products where they're concerned solely with providing entertainment, but they also release plenty of tie-ins and publishers rush developers to meet planned deadlines, etc. The Western side of video game making just seems to me to be much more frantic. And now that I think of it, why not just turn the whole of the James Bond game rights over to the Japanese? So what if Quantum of Solace doesn't come out until a year or two after the film? I'd wager it would be a much better game than what we got.

I'd also be down for a really involved RPG Bond game. Like Fable or something. Really get more into investigating and problems solving with the a little brawling thrown in. Different locations you can choose to go and revisit. Play in the casinos, drive the Aston Martin around. Bust up MI6 headquarters. Stuff like that.

Imo, the best Bond game would be an open-world one in the style of GTA or Red Dead Redemption, only, y'know, Bond-based instead of committing crime (GTA) or fighting it (RDR). Maybe make it Thunderball-ish, with X amount of time until the bad guys launch armageddon, and just don't make it flow in real time, or only make the time really advance via the completion of story missions, thus giving you the freedom to explore the locations when you don't feel like stopping world war three.

I've always imagine that could be a great idea! A Mortal Kombat - like Bond game!
Including Fatalitys, of course.
