"Only on the company time, sir".

I was wondering today, in which movies do we see 007 actually have some food?? He seems to be able to go long periods without any sustinence, and still has enough energy to beat up the bad guy. So which movies do we see Bond actually tuck into some nosh?

Well, he has at least two meals with Vesper in Casino Royale.

He dines with her on their first meeting on the Orient Express, and then later they share a meal to celebrate his Casino winnings - Bond seen chomping away, talking with his mouth full and quaffing wine.

But which other movies feature 007 munching on some yummy food?

OHMSS, where Bond first has a bit of caviar at the hotel, then gets "Steak Piz Gloria" on his first night at Blofeld's allergy clinic.

That's a good example. I also like that in Octopussy he has two meals - one with Magda, and one with Kamal Khan - the latter featuring some interesting dishes.

In DN Bond had dinner in Doctor No's dining room. In FRWL we saw Bond order grilled sole, washed down by something other than red wine. In Goldfinger, we see the remnants of Bond's dinner with Jill in "the best place in town." In OHMSS, Irma Bunt orders him a Steak Piz Gloria in the Alpine Room.

Not sure if we see him actually eat it, but Bond offers Domino some of his conch chowder.

Bond takes a bite of some fruit(?) handed to him in Greece in FYEO.

I think Jinx still had fruit in her mouth when she went back in for some more action, so. Um.

It's not rare to see him having dinner: he's supposed to be a connoisseur of fine food and drink, after all.

He almost eats oysters with Kissy in You Only Live Twice.
I think he has a picnic with Rosie in Live And Let Die.
He has dinner with Kamal Khan in Octopussy.

I once saw an interview with Joan Collins where she said it always annoyed her that you never see people eat onscreen - she pointed out that you see them order food, you see said food arrive, you see them play with the food, but you pretty much never see people taking a good old mouthful, chewing it up and swallowing. So, Joan apparently used to put bananas and grapes and things around the Dynasty set and would regularly pick them up and start eating them during her scenes so that audiences could see someone actually eat. Joan is cool.

Cant see them giving to much time to Bond tucking in to a lobster, but I wouldn't mind seeing it. I did like the food scene in Casino Royale. But does Flemings Bond talk while his mouth is full? I remember Craig doing so when dinning with Vesper.

Chewing on bits of dead hag aside, do we actually see Mr Brosnan's Bond eat anything aside from a grape?; I forget, and these are not films I find the urge to watch regularly so feel free to correct this impression.

I can only recall him tucking into grapes. Maybe his Bond had a eating disorder?

I thin generally they try not to as it means they have to eat the same thing over and again every time they shoot the scene from a different angle! So not only are they full up, but the food has also been lying around all day and isn't very appetising!

From Russia With Love, on the train, with Tania and Red Grant (Red Chianti with grilled sole for the latter, that should have told Bond something B)).

I am trying to remember - when Bond & Goodnight have the "Phu-Yuk" wine earlier in the film, do they have any food?

In FRWL, Bond gives us an idea of what he has for breakfast - green figs, yoghurt, coffee - very black.

I think that breakfast was taken directly from the novel. It's part of Bond's when-in-Rome policy that makes him order local food and spirits when abroad in the novels. In later years he even extends it to his cigarettes, going so far as to smoke Laurens Jeunne in Paris.

In CR, Bond and Vesper have dinner on the train to Montenegro, though the meal progresses from the menu-perusing stage, to Bond doing some wine pouring, to the waiter clearing the plates without us seeing anyone actually consume much of anything.  After the poker game, we do, however, see Bond actually consume a little toast and caviar.  Practically a feast as movie meals go.
