Personally I thought he looked a lot less physically impressive and Bond-like in Quantum of Solace - more like a starving wolf in the scenes where he where's wearing a tux or a suit. I'm not talking about the same definition he had in Casino Royale, just the muscle mass, like what Connery had (due him being an ex-Mr. Universe).

What do you think?

I loved his look in Quantum. I feel he was too bulky in Royale, he looked like a body builder. I mean, if you look at this and compare it with that. I find the latter to be better. Craig himself looks more comfortable, and doesn't look like he has to prove himself. Which, lets face it, he did in Casino Royale, considering he had a huge weight on his shoulders.

Personally I think Craig's physique for Quantum of Solace was much better than his physique in Casino Royale. He looks better in a suit and a tux in Royale, I will grant that, but bare...he seemed a bit too built to me. So I guess a little more muscle mass wouldn't hurt. Fill out outfits better while not looking a bit too muscular when nude/shirtless. I do think he was fine in Solace, though, so if he keeps himself there, I'd be fine with it.

He looked more like a defined Connery in Casino Royale, however in Quantum of Solace he looked like the thinnest Bond actor to date. Bond is supposed to a man every man wants to look like, not Tyler Durden.
Perhaps if he went back to the Casino Royale weight and loosed the definition that could work.

And here's me thinking that David Tennant would make an excellent Bond. B)

I think he looks fit in both pictures, but I would lean toward the build in Casino Royale. He looked like he can hurt someone, but hardly looks like bodybuilder like Stallone or Arnold.

I'm confused. I thought Brad Pitt in FIGHT CLUB was what every man wants to look like, or at any rate what every man is told by the media he wants to look like. Y'know, that famous still from the film showing Pitt barechested and incredibly ripped, posing with a cigarette in his mouth (obviously, the cigarette isn't supposed to be something to aspire to, but the rest of it - the ultra-defined abs, the hairless pecs, and so forth - is).

Well, not from where I'm standing. Apart from the chiselled abs (which aren't that hard in the first place unless you're a 30 something slob with a beer problem). The only thing that looked really cool about him was his cigarette and care-free attitude, something according to the PC media I'm not supposed to appreciate. Funnily enough the same lifestyle magazines that prescribes these "ideals" to us blokes, are part of the same degeneration of society - consumerism and fads that he was talking about.

Either way, I'd rather look like Craig in CR than Durden or Craig in QOS any day of the week.

Just my 2 pence.

Hell if we listen to them we shouldn't like 007 either. Smoking may be gone but last time I checked he's still violent, hard-drinking, and womanizing.

But why not, smoking? Is that any worse than Bond blowing people's brains apart or practising polygamy?
They did it in Die Another Day for Christ's sake, and they leave out when they come to doing a true-to-the-source adaptation of a Fleming novel.

Fascinating. First people complain that Craig was too bulked up in CR. Now people are complaining he wasnt bulked up enough in QoS.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Forget about chiselled abs unless your body fat percentage is lower than 10%. Which doesn't apply to most adults, not just your proverbial slobs with beer problems. Craig doesn't have chiselled abs in CASINO or QUANTUM. Nothing worth writing home about, anyway.

Funnily enough the same lifestyle magazines that prescribes these "ideals" to us blokes, are part of the same degeneration of society - consumerism and fads that he was talking about.

Indeed. I don't endorse an obsession with looking like Pitt (actually, I don't think Pitt is particularly attractive, and I've never understood why he's so often held up as the absolute ideal). I'm merely pointing out what it seems to me that the media would have one believe.

Don't blame me! I'm just talking in retrospect.

Agreed, muscle wise I've managed to maintain a hypertrophic physique like Craig's in CR. But I can't be arsed about uber-definition. It seems to me you tend to look more imposing and attractive to the ladies with moderate definition (as in CR), the effect of the swimming trunk scene on women probably down to them being refreshed by a man with who cares more about muscle mass than male-model abs. Like Sean Connery in a respect, without the body hair.

CR was just after Bond left the SAS/SBS, and was still bulked up from the constant training those lads do. QOS shows me that he is probably not working out as much for bulk, but still retains a work-out for fitness.

That QOS balcony shot of Bond in the tux, over-looking the target at the pre-opera party, just reaked 007.

IsnĀ“t all the admiration for Connery going a bit over the top? There is a pic of him (too lazy to search, but you know it anyway) in trunks (even blue ones, I guess) and he is very slin muscle wise. Not much there really. Not even close to what DC had even in Quantum. Of course, back in the old days, everything was much more natural compared to today - but still, not even close...

At the end of the day - Quantum for me, too. He was particularly thin during the Bregenz shoot, L. Crowley complained of him loosing weight so fast, that they had to do the pants all the time - but that was stress...

I thought Dalton looked quite scrawny really. Well, not scrawny, but if I saw a topless photo of him I wouldn't automatically think "WHOA! Look at the body on him! I bet he could smash me to pieces!!", whereas with Craig I can.

The funny thing is, if Craig had the body he had in layer cake or even in tomb raider, he'd stil be fine. Craig is naturally a fit guy and likes to stay in good shape most of the time. Add to that his toughness and agression, it still makes him a more than ideal Bond.

His physique in QoS was fine. He was lean and I'm sorry but he didn't look good in a suit? Eh?? I thought he looked bloody fantastic in his suits and in the tux.
