I'm really interested in the original ending for QOS. I loved the film but wanted a better ending. I was chatting to a friend who told me that when the final press pack was circulated that there was an image taken from the original ending. He emailed it to me today and I personally have not seen it before. It's taken a Guy's house before Bond kills him. I really hope they release this at some point!

Damn for some reason I can't upload, says the uploads directory has problems.

Here we go

First I've heard anything about this, this is big news indeed.

Anyone know more?

the ending will probably show up in the deleted scene section on the special edition bluray/dvd. i thought the ending that they used was great. i believe forster didnt want to use the cut scene because he felt it would have limited the next film since it would make it have to be a trilogy instead of them being able to do whatever they want.

I would have had no problem with a trilogy. I'm unsure if there are any more images taken from this sequence but Jesper Christense (Mr White) was shown in a foreign language interview where there was some footage of this sequence being shot. Can't remember the link mind.

Yep. It showed Mr White pointing someone (Haines, we assume) saying
"I'm sorry, but they know who wou are."

The original ending for Quantum of Solace is also set up, rather anti-climactically, at the end of the videogame based on the film. The game finishes with a sequence in which Mr. White and Guy Haines conspiratorially discuss Quantum's security problems whilst, outside the estate, Bond prepares to intervene. The scene ends abruptly and, sadly, doesn't offer much of an indication as to how this might have played out on film.

I'm quite interested in seeing this deleted scene, but I don't think that it would have worked that good. Two movies in a row, with Bond confronting Mr. White? Not that inventive, is it?

Especially considering Bond introduced himself in the same way he did in Casino Royale.

In a sense, I'm glad this scene has been cut. It could have been pretty similar to Casino Royale.

Indeed. Also if the Bond theme was to play for the first and only time in full after the deleted scene.

My understanding was that there are some subtle differences to the end of CASINO ROYALE insofar as Bond is attempting to confront Guy Haines rather than Mr White. It is Haines that Bond introduces himself to as "Bond, James Bond", and then is caught off-guard by White also being there or appearing. Not sure how that ties in with the brief bit of video we have though.

I sincerely hope this makes the deluxe DVD.

"It wasn't your fault.... But they know who you are" that's a first for me, as I don't recall of ever seeing that clip.

The first picture of Craig I have on my 'Quantum of Solace' playing cards.

I wish to see it one day. And I have a hunch that I will. Too bad we didn't get much of Mr.White in 'Quantum'. One minute he's there for a glimpse and then we don't see for the rest of the movie and if (I'd say) unlucky, we won't be seeing him again until Bond 24... or ... NEVER.

Actually, White appears at Haines's estate and prepares to shoot him, but then Bond shoots White from behind and introduces himself to Haines.

Forster doesn't know if the scene is going to be on the second release, but I'm sure we will see it at some stage. Who knows, it could be used to open Bond 23.

Let me get this straight. The original ending has Mr. White at Guy Haines' estate, ready to shoot the latter, before Bond surprises them by shooting Mr. White and introducing himself to Haines?

Is this before or after Bond confronts Vesper's lover in Russia?

As good as this scene sounds, I think it would ruin the mood set up by Bond finally coming to gripes with Vesper's death, which seems to be the movie's theme. And as someone earlier pointed out, a second ending in which Bond confronts Mr. White with a shooting would seem repetitive.

Wasn't there a story of Bond meeting Haynes and be shot By Mr White, like bond did to him in Casino Royale. the last shot of The movie being bond on the floor with blood around him.

I don't remember where i got that, but i think it was at the time when QOS was released in cinema.

maybe i dreamed of this.

That was speculation based on the photos of Mr White holding a gun. The common consensus now is that White was pointing the gun at Haines before Bond turns up.

That scenario (White attempting to assassinate Haines, Bond killing White and speaking to Haines) was actually described in an article somewhere. Can't remember where I read it, but it was legitimate.
