I can't believe I'm going to say this...

But Susan Boyle actually does have a Bondian sound to her. B)

Check this out...

I dreamed a dream of Bonds gone by
When they weren't short and blonde and ugly
That Daniel Craig, he makes me cry
Bring back Pierce Brosnan, he was lovely...

Just get Chris Cornell back. I would also like to see a-Ha do another one, though that would probably never happen.

Re a-ha I was just going to post the same. They would do another good theme, but sadly I don't think it will happen either. They recorded a song called SOLACE in 2002 interestingly enough.

They're probably not "hip" enough, but as a band they're as good as ever (I'm Norwegian so I am obliged to like them).

They certainly are as good as ever and their new album is great.

Definitely not the Killers - Preferably Muse or Duffy.

This certainly is a popular thread!

Whoever said Madeleine Peyroux is onto something. That would be an elegant choice. On the other end of the spectrum I submit Trent Reznor, who has recorded some surprisingly melodic songs in his old age, but would also definitely draw some blood with whatever he composed.

Portishead is also an outstanding option. Someone (Esquire? Rolling Stone?) said years ago that they would be a contemporary James Bond's music of choice.

Muse would be cool. Though Duffy would be magnificent, her voice reminds me of Shirley Bassey's.

Portishead, Radiohead or Depeche Mode. Or even better, David Bowie.

Yes, BOWIE would the best option for the next Bond theme (and he would have made a great Max Zorin, if he would have accepted that role), but since he's almost retired from his musical career, I think Jarvis Cocker would be the best choice, currently available.

Very funny. Actually that song is one of my favourites from my all-time favourite musicals.

One thing's for certain, it won't be Michael Jackson now. Shame about Jackson. And I wish people would sending me tasteless MJ jokes, funny though most of them are. I don't think anybody was actually doing any work at all in British television on Friday judging from the number of MJ jokes doing the rounds.

U2. Please???
I know that they helped Tina Turner with "Goldeneye," but let's give them one theme to do by themselves.

I would have been fine with U2 performing a title track back in the 90s, and maybe even for DAD, but they're no longer the band that they once were. There are plenty of artists who are infinitely superior to the mid-to-late 2000s edition of U2 that should be given a chance at the title track. A U2 title track now would just be a self-indulgent song that would, quite honestly, be terrible and rival Madonna and the Jack White/Alicia Keys collaboration for the worst in the franchise.

Take a look,

(If this video isn't avaible in your country search "Letters From the sky" by Civil Twilight on youtube)

Don't they sound like they should compose a Bond theme possibly?

(Sorry I posted a whole topic on this but i had to due to lack of opinions + i like the song very much B)

Tell me what you think!

I'm actually a big fan of this. I'd love something like this to be the theme for Bond 23. We haven't really heard something like this for a Bond film, but it fits nicely I feel.

I'll be pretty dissapointed if it's not Duffy (especially with Bernard Butler);
tho if she could get her act together, I'd still love to see what Winehouse/Ronson could do...
other than that, maybe Kelly Clarkson (popular globebally, great voice)

I'm actually not so keen on a band or singer/songwriter, the songs tend to be more about them than the film,
lets get back to a real lyric writer working with Arnold and a separate singer...

Florence Welch (lead singer of Florence and the Machine) has the voice for it, but currently lacks the global recognition. Give it a few years though...

Definitely not the Killers

Why?

1. Amy
2. Duffy
3. Leona..........

I know, I'm a sad soul. B)

Can I add to the bottom of this with Beyonce.
I think she could do a performance similar to Shirley Bassey

I would also not mind seeing the Killers doing the theme, just don't give me anymore rock music (even though Casino Royale was good and QOS was sub-par). I think it is time for a song that can be enjoyed on and off the screen and integrated right into the movie at some point (unlike QOS). I've always wanted the Killers to give it a try but I want something similar to the old days and the stretch between goldfinger and live and let die. I honestly want to see Beyonce re-make Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

I think Beyonce is so overrated, there's nothing really special about her (beyond the hotness), she's just another average american R&B singer, there're thousands like her in those TV programs like American Idol. She doesn't have a very distinctive and great voice like Shirley Bassey or Tina Turner.
