I'm going to guess. Probably wrong, but is it Quantum of Solace?
(Mathis?)

Sorry for the long silence--I was away from the computer for longer than expected. No, it's not Mathis. Nor is it an anagram. It's a particular form of verse...

I think I've got it!

It's a haiku!
Therefore, my guess is the death of Henderson in You Only Live Twice.

YOLT is correct! Actually, I was thinking of the pre-titles scene in outer space (eternal night), when the SPECTRE (spirit) ship captures (eats) the US capsule, cutting off the spacewalking astronaut in midsentence (silenced etc.). But Handerson's death fits the clue as well, if a little less precisely. And anyway, the object is to guess the movie, so you get the win!

Your turn...

Name the scene:
I was invited out for some outdoor fun, but I ended up as the meal.

Live and Let Die? Referring to the scene at "the farm" where Bond was about to be the meal.

OK, how about Helga Brandt? Bond persuades her to join him and lo and behold, she's fish food.

How about Man with the Golden Gun? "Little effort" = Nick Nack pressing the button that activates the mechanism that attaches wings to Scaramanga's car.

For once, someone else cracks the case--and I don't mean Tiffany.

I'm thinking of two possible answers:
1) The scene where Bond (Connery) smashes the china closet (?) thing in the pretitle sequence of Thunderball.
or
2) Moore opening the 'case' in Drax's room.

Yes! That's what I was thinking of! (There are actually a number of "cases" in that film--two specially equipped briefcases plus the case holding the Lektor. That's what brought that clue to mind.)

Well done! Your turn...

Would this be Goldeneye? Trevelyan was "burnt" at the chemical factory by Bond (his friend) and "trashed" in the radar collapse by Bond (his enemy).

If not for the reference to Russia, I'd guess QoS: Mathis had been "burned" (blown) by Le Chiffre, though falsely, and was left in the trash by Bond. But I don't think Mathis was ever established to have been in Russia.

Have you another guess up your sleeve? (Here's a hint: The two events happened a little closer together chronologically than what everyone else has so far suggested.) B)

No, it's a little more recent than that, and you're ignoring the "trashed" clue... B)

Hmmm...second guess.
Is it Renard's henchman, who holds the burning rock?
Didn't Bond then kill him???
