Hello!

Found these two similar articles today:
http://release.no/artikkel.asp?ID=5681
http://www.jamesbond...?lala=0&aid=406

I assume most of you don't understand Norwegian, so I will translate the main contents of both articles:

"The people behind NSNA along with the late Kevin McClory's stockholders, business associates, family etc. are back with a new unofficial Bond movie, and Steven Seagal is the new Bond. The film will probably hit the screens in November 2009, and is another remake of Thunderball (1964)"

They claim this is not just a rumor, and even refer to a press conference held in Berlin, Germany that they have attended. Some of the quotes from the conference:

"For more than 25 years ago we proved that you didn't have to be a Broccoli to make Bond movies. We even did well in the Battle of The Bonds against the incredibly popular Roger Moore. Now we want to prove it again, and we also want to prove that Roger Moore is not the only actor who can sparkle at age 58 (as in AVTAK)."
He continues:

"When we restart a movie series like this after more than 25 years, we must do it properly. Besides Steven Seagal, this movie will be full of stars. Donald Sutherland as Blofeld, Tia Carrere as Domino Derval, Mickey Rourke as Largo, and Bob Hoskins as M".

Anyone heard of this? Quite exciting.

Maybe it's a sign of getting older but April Fool jokes seem to be getting less inspired...

Don't give this one any oxygen folks.

Unfortunately for an April Fools, it is remarkably apt for McClory's people's tenuous claim to the 007 crown. Talk about not being allowed in the sweet shop....

The BBC aren't really trying these days either:

It's a long way from "spaghetti trees".

If you're going to pull an April Fools prank, you actually need it to sound plausible. Give them something that's extraordinary enough for them to believe, but no so far-fetched that it's obviously wrong, and let their minds fill in the blanks. The trick is that your audience has to do all the work.

Although this is an obvious April fools day story I really hope the original poster is in on the joke because for anyone to think this sounds exciting proves the point that if you stick the name James Bond in a film, some Bond fans will get excited about any old B).

Steven Seagal? I rest my case!

The best way take would have been to name Brosnan as coming back as Bond in the film.

Then we'd have been able to sit back and watch the Craig-lovers really go off on these threads... B)

It's no worse than the sad stable marked McClory that would gladly see this rumour as truth if they could get their toe in the door marked Bond.

As is their right.

They'd be better off adapting Thunderball as a televison serial, though.

I was also thinking April joke, but twice? Two different medias? Funny idea though...

Internet April Fools' pranks, appropriately enough, are all about coordination these days.

WOW! Steven Segal as James Bond!

November 2009 can't come fast enough. This is going to be awesome!

I was totally convinced until I read about Tia Carrere playing the part of Domino. Come on folks, everyone knows that Fleming's Domino is not Hawaiian.

Next someone is going to report that Laura Vandervoort is going to be the new Q.
