Back in the 70's Roger Moore met a young Steven Spielberg and they talked aout James Bond and how Steven would like to direct a 007 film. Moore talked to EON and they said that he would want to much money. I dont think money is a problem with bond anymore. Could Steven Spielberg direct the new Bond film.

Steven Spielberg would make a fantastic Bond movie which would incorporate the "emo" elements of Daniel's Bond with the Volcano-lair elements of the past.
Rather I think that the best person to direct a Bond film would be Brad Bird - the director of The Incredibles. See the second half and tell me if it isn't a Bond flick (albeit with a family and kids involved).
Atleast the PTS of the movie would be great - as the Bearded One's later movies start great and end with a whimper (except Catch me, Munich, and Terminal).

God knows Spielberg's ripped off enough things from Bond into his own films, so why not?

Martin Campbell all the way!!! What happened to the old days when they found a great director and kept him around for a long time! Although, he's got alot of other projects on the table, I can still dream. lol. Goldeneye and Casino Royale are my favorites!!!

Why do people assume that because Spielberg wanted to direct a Bond film in the early 80's he's still interested 25 years later? He's been offered numerous big franchises recently but turned them down because they would be 'a business deal not a challenge'.

I wouldn't want Spielberg now w/ the Craig era. I like the serious route their taking currently w/ CR and QOS. Spielberg would go over the top like Indiana Jones and incorporate the lairs, gadgets, and crazy villains back into 007. Not what I want.

If were dreaming **** up here, GIVE US CHRISTOPHER NOLAN!

Agree on both. Although Spielberg's Munich is a bit of a more realistic fare, I think that he'd go the volcano lair-route (the early draft of Raiders of the Lost Ark had such type of finale, but remained unused due to budget constraints).

Having Chris Nolan would be amazing, considering his work on the Batman franchise (but he still needs to work on that action sequence-directing, since he doesn't use second unit directors).

I imagine a Spielberg film would be like DAD. Brosnan would have benefited if Spielberg brought a better script.

I don't know why people want Speilberg after CRYSTAL SKULL. He would deliver a mediocre film and listen to any stupid ideas Lucas gives him.

Call it a hunch but I think Campbell will be begged back by Craig.

Just one of a few directors who know how to shoot Craig with full effect.

Hardly. Craig is a man who clearly likes to keep things fresh. He would want different directors to take the helm.

He may say that but at the end of the day, I feel Campbell might be back.

My take.

Spielberg has done all different types of movies. He could possibly do an over the top type Bond movie, but he has stated that he always prefered the early Connery type films. Remember not just Munich, but Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Jaws & Duel.

He is hardly going beg EON if Campbell returns. I don't know what makes you think he would be that desperate to want him back.

When I say "beg" it is used in the loosest of terms.

I personally think he will put what I think will be his last Bond film, into familiar hands. Just because Campbell would direct, doesn't mean it would be CR Mark 2...

God knows, I can't see Craig gambling with his third film..QoS might have taught him something I hope.

Anyway, what makes you so sure Craig won't? Because of what he's said?

Hardly concrete is it?

Well let's wait and see, simple.

Since when has any Bond actor wanted a director to return ? And you hardly have any concrete any info yourself when I actually have heard stuff from Craig himself.

That's right, that's why I said just a hunch..I am not going on anything Craig has said.

And just because a Bond actor hasnt asked a director to return doesnt mean it cant happen.

Although when I sleep with someone who works at EoN, I'll let you know the pillow talk ok?

And I doubt even more so now since Craig and EON wants to stray away from formula as much as possible.

I previously posted that he'd probably go the volcano lair-route, but after reading an interview with either him or the Beard one (who seems to insist on going against what his fans want, just because), where it was mentioned that they were greatly impressed with the Bourne Ultimatum.

Love or loathe QOS, if an Ultimatum-like route was followed it would be worse.

But who knows... Well, as long as Mr. Lucas wouldn't be brought along I wouldn't panic. Immediately.

Buggered if I know.

I'm not basing my hunch on anything that has happened...

Craig himself has said that box office numbers were not that meaningful to him (if we are going by the man's reported word)..

Can't a person post what he feels..it may be non-sensical to you but lets keep this a fairly open forum.

I respect your points of view entirely.

I just think differently.

Cheers and out.

If it were possible, I would have Martin Campbell direct every Bond film from now on.

But otherwise, I would like to see J.J. Abrams.

Only because I like Mission: Impossible 3. I liked the directing man.

M:I-3 was fine for what it was. I enjoyed it. But I don't really like the rest of Abrams' material, and I'd think the Craig era needs to aim higher.

This seems far fetched but what about Clint Eastwood? He's worked with Paul Haggis before.

On second thought he's too old and probably doesn't have any interest in living out of a suitcase for an entire year.

I've been thinking for a while that Mr. Bird would be the ideal choice. Especially now, I kinda want to see a new Bond that takes all the best elements of the early Connery films. There was just a style those early films had, and I think Bird can easily bring that on board. Especially if you think about during the "golden age" of Bond, he was only around 10 years old, the ideal age to experience Bond and have all those fond memories. Plus, if they worry him being an "animation guy", he's currently working on 1906 (a live action film about the 1906 earthquake in Northern California), which should be good.

As for what a Spielberg directed Bond film would be like, with Quantum teaming up with aliens to take over the world and the only person who can stop them is Bond, working with an annoying kid that always gets in the way!
