Any chance this Brit can join, or is membership closed?

I say! Pull up a chair and call the cat a wotsit! :(

Bartender - another large Laphroaig, if you would be so kind.

Is it true that Olga Kurylenko works here as a coctail waitress on Friday and Saturday nights?

No. She does the Sunday lunchtime slot. We do a stunning carvery.

Why is that person sitting in my chair?

Boy! Two bottles of the 1978 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Montrachet.

One straw.

A lush after my own heart. I approve....

And despite what you may have heard about their resourcefulness, beavers are far from being socially approachable.

Oh, you mean that sort of beaver?

My mistake.

Our triple seated banquette by the French windows is all beaver apparently... I was there when it was stuffed. 1978. It was a Tuesday.

Nice club here, Zor I. Seems a place where one could just relax and let his font drop.

Drop your font by the roaring fire, I say! To quote the pint-sized medium from POLTERGEIST - "come in children - all are welcome!".

You don't even to ask. We're always keeping the British end up here, don't you know.

I trust my I Love Elvis knickers are acceptable as long as I promise not to show them off? :) :(

I'm wearing my Pulp/Are you sure? knickers and haven't been thrown out yet so you should be fine.

Good news!

Maybe after one too many Agent Strawberry Fields Daiquiris and we can do the can can. :) No wait that's how I got tossed out of the last lounge. ;)

It would be inordinately good to shake off the constant badinage, kick back into a sprawling leather armchair and relax with a drink or twelve amongst good company.

Room for a writer, if he promises to behave?

Also: do I have to keep my shoes on in the lounge? If not, is there some pleasing anti-room within which I could further unwind?

78. Fantastic year for red Burgundy, great year for white Burgundy, but the 78 DRC Montrachet might be a bit scary right now. 1989 will be drinking far better right now.

Hello. The Commanders Lounge has been empty these past few weeks so I just wanted to see what all the hubbaloo was about.

Can't stay long though. I've got a movie to catch... :(

There will be no dancing of French origin here young missy. Not on normal nights anyway.

He shall do no such thing. Ask a barman for a drink, but don't give him instructions like that. We do draw the line at that sort of thing, you know.

I'll pull up a chair.

Give me whatever drink you've got. I'm not fussy. This is the world's most precious resource, we need to control as much of it as we can. I hope shortage issues depart. My advice - take a deep breath, you only got one shot, make it count.

Quite right Zorin, I'll be happy to follow the rules and dance in a non French fashion on the normal nights. When's Bottoms Up night? :)

No, Ms Flex will get your coat and you will sit tight until you have finished that vintage Port. This is not some titty bar where you can up and leave at your whim!

Now, have a bowl of olives on the house.

And now I raise my tiny voice:

Can a heathen come here too? Do you have the hot new Adult flick called The Lunge of Solace? Any carrot juice on hand? Gotta go now. Judo's gone and I intend to replace all his Bond flicks with copies of OHMSS. :(

You see already you are not getting the tone of our Lounge Of Solace. This is not that sort of establishment, young Dodge.

Can I book the entire dining room for Sunday lunch?

I'd rather you choose something from our menu...

This Sunday we have a 1970's leaning to our rosta of culinary delight...

Starters
MELON THUNDERBALLS
PRAWN MARIE ROSE

Mains
STEAK DIANE
THE CARVER CARVERY

Desserts
BLACK FOREST WHITAKER GATEAU
SHERRY TRIFLE

Followed by the cheese board and fresh filter coffee. Mint optional.

There will be a vegetarian option available. It is a map to another restaurant down the road.

No. In fact - down in the orchard by the apple grove is where they like it best. Though Elder Ms Flex's apples have lost their shine, if truth be told. Elder Ms Flex occasionally works in The Lounge. We have a charity film night now and then. She's our resident projectionist....when she hasn't been on the sauce. Bless. The death of Mr Flex Sr took its toll. Young Jenny was lording it up with an ageing character actor in France when it happened. Probably best.

It has already been tried before. And Maurice danced atrociously and broke a leg on the Kamal Khan coffee table, so we are naturally cautious to let that happen again.

Now - Morris Binder dancing though... we would make an exception there...!

There is no solace for me tonight. None. Went to go and see QoS, stocked up on sweeties and ice-cream. The audio on the English version was buggered - we saw the PTS and halfway through the titles and then it failed and refused to come back to life. So I ran into screen 6 for the Spanish dubbed version, but by the end of the Mr White section I was fed up with seeing their lips move at a different time to the words. I HATE dubbed films with a passion. So I ran out, nearly in tears with disappointment. It was like when you have a huge crush on someone for about 2 years, and then when he finally kisses you, he has a tongue like my dog. I explained this to the cinema staff and they just looked at me as if I were a bit mental. They reckon they'll have a good copy in a few days. There are no words.
