What do you think was the most Bondian moment in Quantum of Solace?

There were quite a few.

I think Bonds escape from the guards in the hotel in La Paz was very Bondian. So little effort, pure Bond. :(

I'd agree. For all this positive and negative talk about how 'unconventional' and allegedly Bourne-like QOS is that escape scene was pure Bondian elegance(oddly enough I was reminded of Moore era Bond there in a good, fun way) and the audience I went to see it with last night cheered at it's conclusion.

Yeah I can see what you mean, I've stated many times that it reminded me of Bond sneaking around the Monsoon palace in Octopussy.

Yes, definitely the hotel escape. Also his taking of the motorbike and his dropping into the conversation at the opera.

Yeah that's the one. You know in a funny way, that most critics aren't seeing, the Craig era, despite it's gritty tone, seems to be a more effective combination of previous eras than the Brosnan years were with scenes that not just hark to years back but, most importantly, don't take you out of the film.

There are so many - the whole film is littered with Bondian moments. I'm baffled by the adverse reaction of some. Bond jumping over the atrium wall in the hotel sticks in my mind as a particular favourite

Definately the eavesdropping at the opera and the escape after disposing of the MI6 agents.

Bingo. Bond's escape was the highlight of the film, pure class and skill.

Bond's escape from the hotel. I also felt that the moment when he discovers the water dam felt very Bondian.

I think the most Bondian moment was when he spoke to agent fields

whens the next flight
in the morning
we have all night then

then they end up in bed together, thats very James Bond!

Bonds escape from the guards in the hotel in La Paz was very Die Hard 3 you mean ! The most Bondian scene is the Opera one, too bad it glosses over the action climax. I also liked how Bond got rid of Greene, but that was straight out of the end of the first Mad Max.

No it wasn't Stamper, I wonder what film you watched, I almost punched the air when I saw that scene followed by M saying he's my agent and I trust him, brought a warm smile to his face.

Craig is not Bourne or Mclane he's Bond and has far more elegance than both put together.

I didn't think QOS perfect but this scene was a highlight for me along with Opera sequence.

I second that moment, such a smooth and confident evasive move from Bond. How cool is this agesnt? A great scene altogether in my eyes.

I enjoyed his hotel escape. I love that little moment where he kicks that guard’s leg back into the elevator. He then swaggers off to subtle Bond theme. There are many others, notably Bond after he has downed six Vesper martinis. Very Fleming.

John Mcclane in Die Hard 3 is in a lift with three bad guys and he basically does exactly the same thing, shoulder barging, punching them till they're all knocked out and lying in a heap on the floor of the lift. Mcclane then walks out of the lift.
Thats what i think he means Mharkin007

So many scenes to choose from! I agree the hotel LA PAZ escape was quite Bondian. And the Tosca scenes. It's so hard to choose.

I found Bond and Felix in the bar felt to me like something out of a Fleming novel. Those two in some divvy bar having a beer while verbally sparing.

Hotel escape for the win.

The entire opera sequence was, notably, everything I would expect from the best and most memorable sequences in Bond history in terms of concept and aesthetic. Near-perfect.

Everything from the beginning of the opera sequence to Mathis' death was pure Bond. PURE Bond. There is no qualitative gap between that segment and anything in CR, in my opinion.

Agreed, the opera scene is standout. And accompanied by a really good musical score, right from the moment Greene leaves Beam and Felix leading up to the sequence, right through the inter-cuts to Tosca through to the rooftop fall. That whole collection of scenes is very Bondian to me.
Also as mentioned in the Hotel, in particular as Bond is chasing Greene from the roof of the hotel shooting down, the scene is full of vigour, shades of YOLT/OHMSS in the musical score.

I thought that there were several really great Bondian moments in the film:

1. Bond breaking up the Quantum meeting.

2. The shootout scene interwoven with shots of the opera. The moment that Bond met
Greene and his entourage at the bottom of the stairs through the shootout is my favorite moment in the entire franchise. Just absolutely brilliant.

3. Bond's final moments with Mathis. Well, perhaps it's not necessarily "Bondian", but I thought that it was a brilliant scene.

4. Bond holding Camille in the burning hotel as he's looking for an escape.

5. The confrontation with Yuseff at the end.

I have to agree with most everyone here. The most Bondian moments were 007's interrupting the Quantum crew's meeting at the opera and then taking their picture as they left and Bond's escaping the Bolivian hotel. I really got a kick of seeing Craig confidently trot along the outside of the balcony. That was cool.
