Never heard of this website (above) before. But the reviewer
promises there is a surprising amount of humor in QOS.

"The biggest change here though is the welcome return
of humour as Quantum... contains a surprising number
of laughs. Happily, this isn't in a raised eyebrow, Roger
Moore innuendo-heavy manner but via a genuine sardonic
wit, mostly from Judi Dench's M but occasionally from
Craig."

Reading these reviews, they make you wonder, have the reviewers
really seen the same movie?

Where someone sees no humor whatsoever, his/her colleague
sees plenty of it.

And yes, this is another very positive review.

that is certainly good news, I would miss it if there were no humor.

We have seen and heard the humor with our own ears/eyes anyway by now - so it was always evident, its there.

Probably because they were too busy making notes. :(

Actually, that is a good point. Maybe they were! Come on, think about it... loads of them said they found the film confusing. Maybe they were too busy jotting down notes rather than giving the movie their unidivided attention.

The thing is, many of the people making these reviews all seem to have the same complaint and it's the usual drivel that is quite trivialgiven the context of what's happening in the movie. Also, what they regard as humour are, the blatant, spoon-fed in your face, juvenile BS humour that plagued the Brosnan era. Black humoure, dry and intelligent wit is the way to go and was the approack used during the early Connery era. However, by nature, QoS should be the darkest entry of the Bond movies thus far, so him dishong out the humorous quips every other second would be a complete disaster. Hell, people still cringe and moan about Brosnan, grinning like a schoolboy in the BMW/car park scene moments after the death of Paris. Fact, critics are fickle, which is understandable but for cases like this, it just comes off as monumentally inept.

To me all that counts is that Jay Leno even gave it a thumbs up.
Comedians always voice their oppinions, and it usually is negative one (thank God it was positive).

Jonathan Ross does tend to love most things though, especially if the lead actor is on his show soon...

Jonathan Ross?

Hmmm...

I wonder if he would quiz Olga about his chances of having sex with her if she was on his show.

Lemo gives everything a thumbs up when the guest on the show is from the movie. He even makes fun of himself for it. So in other words, Leno's "opinion" means nothing when he says it in the context of his show.

It's not like Jay Leno is going to put down the film with Daniel Craig next to him anyway.

..To be fair, although he did say TO SYLVESTER STALLONE'S FACE that he was eagerly awaiting more Rambo movies.. he completely slated the latest Rambo a few nights prior on Film 2008, saying how he hoped that would be the last one! :)

"genuine sardonic wit" suits me well, even though I've a soft spot for the "raised eyebrow, Roger Moore innuendo-heavy manner" :(

Of course humour will be in the film, just in more controlled doses. The same style humour that we saw in CR will be there. I don't see that aspect changing drastically during Craig's era.

I think Craig delivers on dry wit, which is a form if humor. He did it on a fairly consistent basis in Casino Royale and we've seen hints of that in the ads for QOS.
I wouldn't worry too much about this.

I'm really satisfied with this critic I have the feeling, that exprress almost the same that I would write about QOS after november the 6th (the premiere on my country).

I think I will be particularly agree with this: "Quantum... may not pack the same punch as Casino Royale but then that film was following on from Die Another Day, arguably the worst Bond ever. Quantum... follows perhaps the best Bond film ever, so it couldn't possibly maintain that sort of pleasant shock value. However, the fact that it's pretty much on a par should be cause for celebration. For the record, James Bond will return - and on this evidence that's a very good thing indeed."

About the flaws mentioned in the article, yes, it does worry me too the kind of editing that I saw in the clips of action scenes, like the opening car chase. I'm very tired of this trend of documentary shaky-hand camera, now you can see that in all types visual works. I deeply despise this artsy style, it's like they think 'we wanted to do it realistic and contemporary we don't know how, let's just put hand camera with tight close up, problem sold'.

May be we'll get that deformation on QOS with a result of clumsy and unenjoyable action scenes (just like in the IMO overrated The Dark Knight), but as long we don't have to suffer this pretentious trend in almost the entire movie (like let's say the Greengrass's Bournes films) I will be happy, and I still trust that Foster is capable to make good dramatic scenes.
