It's like Brosnan's contract. He has to do 3 movies and if he wants wo do a 4th he could do it.

I was thinking the same thing, but I think Craig has had MANY great films throughout his Bond tenure so it looks as if he is trying new things when still being Bond..

I can wait, I'm afraid. I'll see it but not with excitement. My money's on The Wrestler...and I'm simply on fire from the astonishing trailer for Clint Eastwood's Changeling.

A Big YES from me on Defiance. Can´t wait. Will be an exciting and very good film.

That's an average of exactly 4. Which is the number I think Craig will do. He'll be Bond when the series celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2012, but then he'll call it a day.

Hogwash! As long as he stays fit, he should be just as active at 45 as he is at 40! Jackie Chan is 56 and is just starting to slow down a bit (but not too much). Both Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt are in their mid 40s and they don't have any problems with stunts in action movies.

Disagree that Craig is not as committed to Bond as the others. I think he's showing HUGE commitment; he seems far more determined to make great films than Connery (in his later days) or Moore, who pretty much seems to have gone along with the script whatever it said.

Craig understands that THIS is his BIG ONE, the role which will stay with him forever no matter what other excellent work he does.

Bond also gives him the power to do more personal, less commercial project like Flashbacks of a Fool, which is even harder to do these days, so Bond is important to him for other reason outside the franchise itself.

I suspect he'll happily play Bond as long as the scripts are top notch and the standard stays high. He's said it himself.

He's 40 now, still younger than Moore, Dalton and Brosnan when they all started. He'll be 42 for his 3rd film (Brozzy and Dalton were 42/41 for their first) and he'll be 44 for his 4th. Hardly an old man.

I can see Craig easily doing 4 and very likely doing a 5th and last film at the grand age of 46/7. (Which is only a year older than Moore when he did LALD.)

If QOS makes BIG BUCKS - and I think we all know the chances are high that it'll be a huge hit, then Sony will be offering him even more to stay on for a few more films. They are not about to let him slip away.

He may end up being the most powerful actor in the series in terms of his creative input and that'll def. keep him keen to stick with the role.

His work rate/ethics and performance speaks for itself, unless your myopic affirmation of his commitment are all on the screen.

If not wanting to except any old scripts and not being in awe of the role like Brozzer was and could never take it anywhere it hadnt been before explains your reason for thinking this.

Connery certainly stop giving a pretty early and Rog as Col said just signed on the dotted line for any old crap, explain VTAK or MR to me for that matter.

Apart from Dalton Craig is the first proper actor to come to the role seasoned and a pro with an impressive back cat behind him, like Col said he realises it doesn't matter how many awards he gets or plaudits for other roles, it is Danisl Craig former James Bond which will appear in articles and interviews etc printed for the rest of his life, this is the big one.

Rather than just be able to say he played Bond like some other actors he wants to say he attempted to do something different and produce a quality product, rather than signing on the dotted line for any old crap.

I grew up with Brosnan as Bond and he was my favorite Bond since Connery.But now I must say that I become a huge fan of Daniel Craig after his excellent job in Casino Royale and i think that the Quantum of Solace will be one of the most memorable Bond films,and Daniel the most reliable,darkest and closest to Fleming's Bond
I want to see Daniel as bond until his 50s
