As with earlier mblbc.gif threads... how old were you when you first read John Gardner's 11th James Bond novel, Death Is Forever?
I remember stumbling across the US paperback edition in a nearby used bookstore, The Bookworm, when I had just started to read the Gardner Bond books. I grabbed a copy along with For Special Services, Icebreaker and a couple others and just held onto it a while (since I tried to read his books in relatively sequential order).
I must have been around 16 or 17 when I finally gave it a read. It was--and remains--just an "OK" Gardner Bond for me. Not as enjoyable as Never Send Flowers which followed it, but definitely an improvement over the previous one, The Man From Barbarossa.
I really should give it a reread soon to see if my opinion has changed.
