Paul Morley appears to be quite a Fleming fan. says something like "on this evidence, Fleming was a better writer than Faulks". Thinks Faulks underestimated the task and that generally people don't appreciate that there are poetic moments in Fleming. Mr Morley sounds almost like a CBn regular.
The other two don't appear to be all that familiar with Fleming, think DMC is marvellous and do a bit of brown nosing.

They write two different forms of fiction. I'd love to see Fleming imitate Faulks style and try and do a book from Faulks French trilogy. I won't underestimate the man's talent, but I bet in comparison to Faulks he'd get pretty much the same criticisms. It's hard taking something that isn't yours and forging a new story attempting to stay in the same style and feel. I admit I kind of expected better then what I'm reading, but at the same time DMC really isn't that bad and the only person who can trump Ian Fleming and give us a masterful James Bond novel is Ian Fleming. Amis didn't do so hot either and he's considered one of the greatest authors of the past century, ranked typically far above Fleming. I would think Faulks would have had more success had he not imitated Fleming and just done his own thing.

Here you go, m'dears.
Thanks!
I agree with the guy on the left: Faulks got all the boxes checked but added nothing new to a rather uninspired story.

Many thanks for the link! Fellow on the left seemed to know his stuff. I got the impression the others knew little of Fleming, and just assumed Faulks must have done it better than the man himself because he's Faulks and Fleming was just Fleming.

Oh, my god. What are the bird and that older guy talking about?
Quite clearly they tipify the traditional Fleming reader. Warm blooded hetrosexuals, in areoplanes, trains and beds.
