I was the first person to buy the book there, though.

Seems a bit odd if Waterstones makes a big deal of the post cards and then limits them to the first five customers only...

The first five thing seems to be if you didn't pre-order and just walked into the shop.

It seems like, unless you've preordered, they'll only give out the postcards to the first five customers - at least that's what they told me in my local Waterstones.
Ouch. Seems a tad unfair.

Yes, there was - on the posters, it said you could pre-order and you got the postcards.
Well these are the only ones I saw (photo by ACE) and there was no mention of pre-ordering; just that you got the postcards while stocks last:

So, still doesn't make it any less fair.

Not the same one that I saw - and even then, those posters DO say the postcards would only be given out whilst stocks last and if they've only got five sets per store, the first five customers WOULD be whilst stocks lasted.
So, still doesn't make it any less fair.
Five is a bit rough- barely worth advertising. I'd imagine that they had plenty more than that in most stores.

I went to Waterstones on my last day in London and they had the postcard packs just sitting on the counter as freebie givaways to anyone. Not the same one that I saw - and even then, those posters DO say the postcards would only be given out whilst stocks last and if they've only got five sets per store, the first five customers WOULD be whilst stocks lasted.
