I made Favourite Felix Leiter in 2003 and then added Jeffrey Wright in 2006 which allowed people to vote who hadn't voted. Doing that skewed the results so here's a new poll.

The results of this poll will one day be posted on Righty007.com.

I voted for Hedison at this point, but I do think that Jeffrey Wright is the best actor to ever be cast in the role. He just wasn't given enough to do in CASINO ROYALE to warrant saying that he is the best Felix so far in the franchise. Assuming that his role in QUANTUM OF SOLACE is more substantial than it was in CASINO ROYALE (it would almost have to be more substantial, I would think), then he would have a very good chance of being my favorite Felix Leiter.

I voted for Bernie Casey, which may seem an off-choice, but I thought that of all the Felixes, he was the one who (1) seemed most physically capable, and so functioned as a real peer of Bond's, (2) caught something of the easy-going charm of the Felix of the books, and (3) had a real rapport with Bond. I thought Casey and Connery had a couple of nice moments of give-and-take in NSNA, and I really believed they were old friends. It helped that they had more action scenes together than any of the other Bond/Felix combos, so they came across as teammates.

I'm surprised nobody's yet voted for Jack Lord...

Try this for a yardstick.

Fleming has Leiter as Bond's close friend. Therefore, which cinematic Leiter actually appeared to be Bond's friend, have a warm relationship with him?

Hedison for me. Okay, the wedding stuff helped.

Other than that? Casey for the reasons mentioned in a post above. And to a lesser extent Van Nutter.

Ultimately I'm not that bothered about Felix Leiter so I just went with Jeff, whom I liked the most.

Hedison

Sure, Wright is talented but I just don't think he's done anything interesting yet.

Jeffrey gets my vote, replacing my previous favourite Rik Van Nutter.

Jeffery gets my vote right now because potential is exciting, and I quite like his take so far. Had they recast Leiter for Quantum of Solace I probably would rethink that.

I still contend the best relationship between Bond and Leiter is Casey and Connery in Never Say Never Again.

Van Nutter's the only one who struck me as being even slightly close to the Leiter of the books.

I had to do "Eanie, Meanie, Minie, Mo" between Jack Lord and Jeffrey Wright, and I landed on Wright, so he got my vote.

Hard to choose. Jack Lord and Jeffrey Wright are my top two.

Jeffrey Wright, without a doubt... I cant wait to see his contributions to Quantum of Solace.

Sean Connery IS James Bond.

I'd like to get another look at Wright in Quantum of Solace, but for now it's still Hedison for me.

Jeffrey Wright for me. Although he has a small part in CR, he has some of the best lines. "Keep the fruit"

That's basically what I would have to do to choose between the two right now. Will have to see if that changes after Quantum of Solace.

This is a tough choice.

Hedison has always been my favorite, though watching Never Say Never Again recently, I really liked the chemistry that Connery had with Bernie Casey. I also really like Jeffrey Wright. He has the potential to be the best Leiter in the franchise, but as the character didn't have much to do in Casino Royale, I'll wait until I see him in Quantum Of Solace.

As of right now, I am voting for Hedison. However, that will most likely change to Wright by the time Quantum Of Solace is released.

It's David Hedison for me. I like his relationship with the two Bonds he was starred with and I think he captures Leiter's personality the best.
No more foreplay.
Speak now or forever hold your piece.
I think he got the point.
Looks like he came to a dead end.
He had lots of guts!
Yes, considerably.

Jack Lord was cool as ice and it was a deep shame he didn't do another film. I liked Rik Van Nutter's portrayal very much as well. Jeffrey is right up there and will be further cemented in QoS I suspect. Wright has my vote.

Same but unfortunately his ego got in the way of his judgement. It wasn't until 1968 that the popular, Hawaii Five-O, premiered so he had no valid excuse for not returning besides thinking he was worth the same amount as Connery.

Right now I have to give a slight edge to Wright, who despite being very different from the literary Leiter is simply one of the coolest characters in Bond-dom. In that regard, it actually helped that he was in the movie relatively briefly. Good handle on the humor, and I can tell he already knows what his role is as Bond's ally and friend, which several other Leiters didn't seem to grasp.

However, I liked Hedison so much in LtK (as much as he hammed it up  ) that I just nulled my vote. I'll wait for this thread's third incarnation in a year or so, when QoS will probably have tipped me one way or the other.

I'll give you all candy if you vote in this poll. I really want to see which actor is the favorite pre-Quantum of Solace and 47 votes doesn't reflect Bond fans in general...
