EXCELLENT news and it is about time!

I know they were quick to cash in on the first release, but they could have done SOMETHING better at that time!

Oh well, time to re-spend!

I can't wait to see the deleted material, of which there was a solid amount.

Solid? I dunno. I think the expanded PTS will be the only thing of real interest. Anyway, good that this appears to be coming out soon...I was expecting a new DVD to be released about a week before QoS

Well, I am eagerly anticipating seeing Bond and Vesper's skinny-dip in the Mediterranean. I imagine I'm not alone in that.

Well, we'll see just how much bonus material they actually put into this one. It's going to have to be a lot to justify purchasing the film again.

I'm really hoping to see a lot of new scenes with Bond and Vesper, and the expanded PTS as well. Also, the TV spots need to be included, as well as trailers and more behind the scenes material. And, last but not least, Daniel Craig's screen test would be great to see, although I'm sure that it's just like the rest of the screen tests in that we'll never get to see it.

Well, there were only a handful in the December draft, and we're not even sure if they were all filmed. I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I don't think they exactly pushed the limits of a DVD release with the very small number of extras they put on the previous release of CR, so it's conceivable that it could be three discs not nearly filled to capacity to make it look like there's more than there really is.

Well, there were only a handful in the December draft, and we're not even sure if they were all filmed. I wouldn't get your hopes up.

That's a shame. I was hoping that there was a lot of scenes that didn't make it to the actual film between the two characters. That's the one thing that CASINO ROYALE really got right, and I would love to see more of it. I thought that the Daniel Craig/Eva Green pairing was the best Bond/Bond girl pairing in the entire franchise, but there just wasn't enough of it, IMO.

Also, one other thing that this new release needs is new cover art. I've never been a fan of the theatrical release poster (it's just OK, but compared to the teaser poster, it's very much lacking).

I would like to see an extremely in depth documentary on not only the making of the film but the two year search for Daniel, the controversy that went with it and the rousing sucess the film was met with. The recent "making-of" documentary on the new Blade Runner DVD was three and a half hours long! While I don't expect some thing that extensive, an hour and half to two would be wonderful.

I've been very disappointed that there never were any "making-of" documentaries for Brosnan's Bond films.

I was hoping that there was a lot of scenes that didn't make it to the actual film between the two characters.

We have the following possibilities for deleted material:

-The extended PTS, with a more confusing sequence of cuts back and forth. It showed Bond pursuing the contact into the bathroom.

-A slightly extended chat between Obanno and Mr. White, explaining more about Obanno's religious connection.

-Bond telling Mollaka his name before he shoots him. This was probably never filmed, but y'never know.

-A recurring motif of torn cards playing into the "ellipsis" deal. We know this was at least partially filmed, due to the fact that footage of it is visible in the CASINO ROYALE teaser trailer.

-Bond being picked up from jail by Villiers.

-Extended conversation between M and Bond in Nassau about LeChiffre's connection to Saddam Hussein. We know this was filmed.

-Bond meeting card player Mr. Bliss on the train and replacing him. Probably not filmed.

-Bond watching Vesper approach on the train station. Filmed.

-More Bond and Vesper banter on the way to the hotel taxi, not unlike the conversation they had on board the train and then in the car. If it was filmed, it was probably cut for overdoing it.

-Vesper sneaking a glimpse at Bond on the drive to meet Mathis.

-Extended conversation between Mathis and Bond during their lunch together, having to do with Bond's view of women and how the last thing he needs is a girl hanging on his gun arm.

-Extended dialogue between Bond and Vesper on the balcony, after his loss, where she talks about her father committing suicide after losing money in gambling. In the script, the moment felt overdone and forced, and I can imagine that's why the cut it.

-Bond and Vesper skinny-dipping in the mediterranean. Was filmed, and you can see bits of it in various trailers/commercials. I'm very eager to see this.

-Extended "the bitch is dead" scene, where Bond hurls his laptop into the water and it shorts out. This was filmed.

2 discs for extras... Why do I expect that there won't be enough to even fill one disc but they'll put it on two so that it seems like much more than it really is?...

Thanks for the information. I hadn't heard of some of these scenes.

There does appear to be a good amount of Bond/Vesper material here, more than I was actually expecting there to be. It's a shame that more scenes for the two weren't written into the script, but I'll be very happy to see these whenever the new edition is released.

Also looking forward to that whole torn playing card business, just to see how all of that fit into the film. Hopefully it's included.

The scene with Villiers getting Bond out of jail sounds like it could be a rather humorous scene as well.

Awesome! Great to finally have some news about this. Hopefully there will be a fair amount of material, and they are not just making it three discs for the reason MarcAngeDraco said. I'm most excited to see the deleted scenes. It looks like there was a fair amount of footage that was deleted. I'll be curious to see all of what they decided to cut.

Plus a few other bits (I'm copying and pasting from another thread so I might repeat a few bits you mention here):

Bond and Vesper driving the Aston through the countryside with Bond noticing Vesper checking him out (as seen filming on Fifth Gear- lovely helicopter shots of the Aston driving along)

Bond and Vesper's naked swim

The torn ace

Bond falling down the steps of the casino after being drugged

The tanker driving through a plane's fuselage during the chase

The exterior of the cricket club in Pakistan and the beginning of the fight, including the two men losing their guns and Bond smashing the other fella's head through a urinal

Bond's arrival on a stretcher at the hospital

Valenka's swim (underwater stuff was filmed)

When Bond and Vesper are in bed in Venice, she snaps a picture of him before leaving. Later, when Bond is on the phone with M, he's looking at the pictures on the laptop and flings it into the water, where it shorts out. This footage was in the Sony promo.

Bond and Vesper disembarking the train at the station in Montenegro (including a rather funny exchange about a secret agent's tax return)

The scene where Bond meets and replaces the poker player Bliss on the train (actor Con O'Neil was cast in this part so presuambly the scene was cut)

The shot of Craig's face in close up, while sparks from bullet ricochets go off in the background as seen in the slo-mo bit of the trailer

The shot of Dryden walking across the lobby from the trailer isn't in the film

I'd really love to see an extended version of the PTS fight above all, but I suppose it depends on what stage of editing they got to for that.

It would be great to get a "Director's Cut" with all the missing footage restored, although I suppose as long as all the deleted scenes are included as special features, I'll be satisfied.

Hmm I think I remember reading something about an actor who was cast as Bliss.

Anyway, nice sum-up of all the missing footage. I can only add a couple of other things -

-Bond sees Gettler at the hotel, becomes suspicious, and asks the receptionist about him (didn't the actor who played Gettler say he had filmed some scenes that were cut?)

-There may be an extra "something" going on in the Venice finale - remember that brief shot in the trailer of Bond's face in the foreground and there are sparks going off behind him.

-There may also be a bit in the torture scene that implies Valenka is torturing Vesper in the other room, when she asks Le Chiffre for the pliers. I'm pretty sure this was filmed, as Eva has a bandage on her hand in the later scenes.

Agreed. An Extended Version or a Director's Cut of CASINO ROYALE would be great. I doubt that it will arrive in this form, but it would be great if it did.

Why hasn't this information surfaced on any other DVD Web site considering this is only three months away? It makes me wonder if they are confusing this with the CR '67 rerelease.

I would have thought they would put this out in the fall to get people pumped for QOS. I wonder if they will have a bonus preview or something you can redeem for ticket to the film or something?

I don't think there will be a director's cut considering Eon has never ever given directors that type of power before. But they've done a lot of unconventional things the past few years so it's anybody's guess.

I got a looks at the planning of the publisher, and the publisher confirmed me this release, it's 100% genuine guys. We'll probably know a bit more next week re the bonuses.

The bonuses on the first edition were on a DVD-5. My guess is this will be the double edition, with another DVD-5 included.

I hope for the americans, that you get the unrated cut this time. No chance of a director's cut (when a Bond movie was ever re-released as a DC ?), but unrated for america would be nice.
