A good bond title it is not, which makes me glad that the same article reports other unreliable information.

Also, how often are Bond titles direct translations?

That story has only stolen a rumour reported by their own website in September 2007. If it was true then I'm sure it would have been confirmed by now. It sounds far too much like an Indiana Jones or Harry Potter title.

Well thank you ever so much Shrublands for clarifying that issue! I may now go and have a nap with my mind rest assured that EON are not in fact going to balls up the bleedin' new Bond title. Thank heaven for that

Now, what is the name of the guy played by Mathieu Almaric, again ?

I'm not saying it's the title... But I wouldn't rule out it's actually Property of a Lady except in France. Where the original novel name will be used... :(

Has this anything to do with diamonds?

If so, I think you must mean Blofeld.

But as this is certainly not the title of the film, what connection could it possibly have?

I'm French so keep quiet, they only say that it's a rumoured title (they add a "?" to this title), and that Gemma Arterton has been choosen as Bond girl (and NOT that she's the leading Bond girl). And I can't imagine a Bond movie called "The emerald sphere".

Yes. With Frank Sinatra as the main title artist
This thread is very interesting, it's a wonderful example of how a rumour can grow up and spread all around the world...
Thanks for the information about the (strange) French title of TPOAL!
