Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) -> "Star Trek" (2008)

Is that a 2008 movie? I'm not sure... I'm assuming so...

What about that CGI Ghostbusters 3? Part two was a 1989 film...

Yeah, I think Star Trek is aiming for Christmas '08.

As for CG Ghostbusters, Aykroyd killed that rumor just a few days after he started it.

No, I don't think LW5 will ever exist.

2008 is the year to beat for big blockbuster movies. We have IRON MAN, INDIANA JONES IV, THE DARK KNIGHT, WATCHMEN, and BOND 22. I couldn't be happier.

Then neither can I, Harms. :cooltongue:

Isn't Bourne Ult out in '08? Or is that happening this winter?

I'm personally looking forward to Prince Caspian as well. (Not that it has anything to do with 1989.)

I've already made my feelings about that soulless, mediocre franchise quite clear. :cooltongue:

This year has been a bit like 1990; with visits from The Simpsons, the Turtles and John McClane.

Jeez... James Bond, Indiana Jones, Batman, and Star Trek in one year? Not sure I can handle all of that.

It's a bit like 2005 should have been with James Bond (with the then Pierce Brosnan three year gap), Batman, and Star Wars.

It is funny what a repeat of '89 we have.

I was going through my clippings file the other day and I found some newspaper adverts in which Paramount advertised Indy and Star Trek in the same add. The banner tag was something like; "Adventure is Paramount". I have one clipping of this Indy/ST combo ad sharing the same page as a LTK advert. Kind of looks like a triple bill.

Die Hard was a 1988 film, but it is close to it with Live Free or Die Hard coming soon.

Also released in 1998: RAMBO III.

Due for release in 2008: JOHN RAMBO.

LTK was the second outing of a critically acclaimed "serious actor" in a very dark Bond film that was an attempt to ground the series in Fleming.

BOND 22 is the second outing of a critically acclaimed "serious actor" in a very dark Bond film that is an attempt to ground the series in Fleming.

President Bush was in the White House in 1988. President Bush will be in the White House in 2008.

Back to films: even the current horror boom (HOSTEL, SAW, etc.) is reminiscent of the late '80s, when Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees (all about to have their franchises rebooted, it would seem) were at the height of their popularity.

Who said anything about living in the White House? (Although one might actually question whether Dick Cheney is actually alive)

:cooltongue:

(This is starting to get a bit absurd. I think I will stop now.)

Call me crazy, but I actually like the onslaught of sequels to my childhood heroes.

Very much looking forward to Indy, Bond and Batman returning next year.

Indy, Batman, Star Trek and LTK all came out in the summer, though. I remember that summer very well. I was practically living in the theaters, spending my lawn mowing money.

I don't know when Indy is coming out, but Star Trek and Bond 22 are coming out in the winter.
