Save a Prayer - Would have made a far better theme for Octopussy.
Come Undone - Could have worked great for a '93 Dalton film.

Nice selections - Goldfrapp and previous Bondchanteurs seems to be winning the day. But Bjork is surely the one to watch - with her David Arnold-ness and all...
PS I am desparate to hear The World Is Not Enough by Straw (a band I actually loved). Anyone care to PM me a MPEG of it? Or lead me in the general direction of it...
The Killing Moon - Echo And The Bunnymen
Tour De France - Kraftwerk
This Is Hardcore - Pulp
To The End - Blur
Lullaby - The Cure
Nobody Does It Better - Radiohead Thom Yorke's voice not on best form but imagine the jump in credibility if these guys did a theme. Are they still selling reccuds in the US (the big test de nos jours)?
You Only Live Twice - Coldplay Chris Martin slaughtering this but like Radiohead, imagine the boost to Bond if these guys got the gig. Again, do they sell reccuds in the States?
Previous choices on link
Bachelorette - Bjork
Confide In Me - Kylie Minogue
Thursday's Child - David Bowie
Policy Of Truth - Depeche Mode
D J Culture - Pet Shop Boys
Toxic - Britney Spears
Oh, alright then, give Burly Chassis another go...
The Rhythm Divine with Yello
History Repeating with Propellerheads
The Living Tree with Never The Bride

"Africa" by Toto
Whaaaaaat!!!???
You obviously haven't heard how the song started, as a demo of the song they submitted for the Bond movie. The original lyrics are below. The leading lady was going to be Rosanna Arquette....*
Broccoli by Toto
I hear the screams echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of eavesdropped conversations

My own 2 cents:
Les Kid Nappeurs Main Theme by Marc Collin
just an instrumental, but has a very spyish feeling about it
Crush With Eyeliner
King Of Comedy
I Don't Sleep, I Dream
Bang And Blame
I Took Your Name (would have worked particularly with CR )
Circus Envy ( ...forgot to bark on command... great line!)
all by REM from their MONSTER album (Which for me always held a particular spy-thriller feeling. Anyway, it set me up (amongst other things) for my first marathon and my first divorce, so I kind of own this album something. Try it out yourself. On a jog, not on a divorce.)
The Wake-Up Bomb ( ...knock a few buildings over, I had to decompress... )
Leave (slow start, but then...)
So Fast, So Numb
Low Desert
all by REM from their album NEW ADVENTURES IN HI-FI.
(Ok, I used to be an REM fan, so what?)
Charlie Big Potato (that one particular, altough the lyrics would have to change a bit)
We Don't Need Who You Think You Are
Secretly (again, a bit explicit on the lyrics)
Cheap Honesty
You'll Follow Me Down for some end credits
I'm Not Afraid again end credits
all by Skunk Anansie from POST ORGASMIC CHILL

While I have certain issues with Ian Brown singing a Bond theme, that one is a particularly good example of a should have been Bond song. And seeing that kind of video, I tend to think never mind the song, have them direct the damn film too!UNKLE: "Reign"

Thanks Double-Oh-Zero!
May all your allergies be swiftly cured - you made me very happy.
A history of the rather excellent but unfortunate band, Straw, is here
Intresting lyrics and a nice, Radiohead-y/Coldplay-esque malevolent chord progression. Very Bondian - almost to the point of pastiche as are the lyrics.
The World is not Enough by Straw
Take my hand and decide
You've learnt to live
But do you choose how to die?
Everybody's wanted dead or alive
Kiss the world and everything you know goodbye
Let's pretend we will survive
Killing a friend and loving a spy
Reading your obituary I smile
I shall use my time
The world is not enough (kiss kiss bang bang)
The world is not enough (kiss kiss bang bang)
The world is not enough (kiss kiss bang bang)
The world is not enough
A motto for the man who has everything
But a gun in his hand
Blow me a kiss but don't ask why
I have lived and loved and surely let die
You know that you've alive
When looking death in they eye
And on your epitaph I'll write
The world is not enough (kiss kiss bang bang)
The world is not enough (kiss kiss bang bang)
The world is not enough (kiss kiss bang bang)
The world is not enough
A motto for the man who has everything
But a gun in his hand
I can recall the petals on your white dress fall out
The engine stops
The crimson kiss of death still forming
A melancholy song so we've got all the time in the world
B-Side of Soundtrack of the Summer

What it says on the tin. Inspired by ACE's great selections here. Anyone got any favourites? Songs you think could have been fantastic title songs - or could still be! Here are a few I could find on YouTube - please add your own. We could vote for the best in the thread, and someone could then set the winning song to scenes from CASINO ROYALE... or something.
Here is one that Dame Bassey sang-
It was the theme song for a 1966 Bond spoof based upon a John Gardner novel. It sounds very Goldfinger-ish, doesn't it?

It was her follow-up to "Goldeneye" and sounded like it.

F.E.A.R. - Ian Brown
Great song. Just needs changing to S.P.E.C.T.R.E.
I think the Stone Roses would have been good for The Living Daylights, especially as their name comes from the spy thriller by Sarah Gainham, aka Sarah Terry, who Fleming tried to seduce while he was in Berlin researching that short story. Fact fans!
The Strangest Thing - George Michael
I like this most of your picks, Mark - great song. And you can tell he was high when he wrote it.
THE POWER OF GOODBYE by Madonna
Yes, love this - I think Frozen is another one that would have worked. But they'd never get someone like Madonna to do a Bond tra... oh.
Both by Duran Duran (who really should've been the 80s/90s equivalent of Shirley Bassey):
Save a Prayer - Would have made a far better theme for Octopussy.
Come Undone - Could have worked great for a '93 Dalton film.
Yes, both great songs.
No Regrets - Robbie Williams(no, not the obvious one from the Robster!)
Cool song - Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys on backing vocals, of course. I think the PSB could have done a great Bond song back in the day: something with the mood of their B-side Violence, perhaps.
