Edward Fox does not like Craig

I honestly can't think of a more random actor to trash Craig. What does Terence Cooper, Barry Nelson and those Cowboy and Indian extras have to say?

What is this weirdness?
I don't get you? He was M in Never Say Never Again and knew Fleming. However why this comes out now I have no clue?

What I mean is it is as you say, so totally random. Also I would expect someone like Edward Fox to know better than to be so, well, bitchy in public. You never come out of it looking good.
Ah Okay then. This could be an old story that has been recycled or Fox is a bit behind the times.
Now I wonder if Fleming would have approved of Fox's M?

Next up: "Jeffrey Wright goes against Fleming's vision of Leiter," says Alain Delon.
I mean, bash Craig all you like, but at least have the grace to do so on an established Bond fansite under a name like Moomoo, or Looloo, or Antimatter's Shadow. Then you can talk all you please about his horrid blond hair and lack of fidelity to Fellming. But we don't need tourists like Fox sticking their beaks in as though they know about Bond!

Well, Edward Fox may be bashing Craig, but then again Craig has also been publicly praised by all five of his predecessors, as well as by celebrities as random as Stephen King and Sylvester Stallone, so I doubt he cares about getting slammed by some silly old bitch who wants the world to know that he knew Fleming.
But he is wrong for the part. I still like him but I can't argue with the old school of thinking regarding the Bond persona.I also think he was way too old to play a rookie 007...still, a great film and successful portrayal on all fronts so why diss Craig? He did help make Casino Royale a load of money.

If you think Craig turned in a 'successful portrayal on all fronts', how do you feel he was 'wrong for the part'?
Shame if Fox said this - with the emphasis on if as I've never heard of this site and well, what a surprise if a website called 'PR Inside' made up a story. But I'd have loved to have seen him as M opposite Craig, or even his daughter as Moneypenny.

Indeed! And if Fox is so concerned with being faithful to Fleming, why did he choose to play M as an inept buffoon? Sounds to me like someone's bitter they only got to be in the WORST Bond movie of all time, whereas Craig was in the best

The justifying of his opinion by saying he knew Fleming is rather - my mother knows me but wouldn't have a clue what kind of man I'd like to be my own personal Bond, for example. He knew Fleming? How nice, so did lots of other people - like his dentist, doctor, primary school teachers etc. Can't wait to hear their opinions on DC and what Flemmmmming would have thought of him. Obviously he's entitled to his opinion, after all we all give our opinions ad nauseum right here, but to be so unrepentantly bitchy in public is so, well, teenage. I do hope he didn't actually say this.
Agreed! This is similar to the whole "Cubby would be turning in his grave" stuff a few weeks back. Fox knew Fleming - here's a badge and a sandwich. Fox has seen Craig - here, have a Snickers. Has Fleming seen Craig? No. So Fox, be quiet and don't make assumptions about the thoughts of those long gone. It's insulting to the living and unbelievably distasteful of the dead.

I mean "wrong" in a purely superficial sense. I think he's great James Bond but he doesn't have the look one would associate with 007 pre-Casino Royale. He's blond, has non descript eyebrows, pale skin and is shorter and thicker than the gentleman who've portrayed him before. I don't mind the unconventional approach at all. I'm just saying I understand why some people are hung up on the expectation of James Bond being tall(over 6'), dark hairded and handsome. I've been saying this over and over: If Bond really existed he's probably look like Daniel Craig and not some uber pretty boy and since I like realisim in my Bond movies, Craig works for me.

No, no, Fox was in NSNA, not TWINE.

Agreed with every word, Tarl. Craig's looks are the elephant in the room. I'm a bigger Craig supporter than most, but answer this question honestly: before Craig was hired, whenever you heard or read the name "James Bond", did you ever not get an immediate, involuntary mental picture of a tall, dark fella?

Precisely. Whenever someone says "Cubby would have...." or "Fleming would have....", you know it's probably time to tune out of what's about to follow.

Well, there is THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN.
Oh, hang on, I thought for a moment you were talking about the best films.

Actually, I'm starting to get to a point where Craig's blonde hair and cinematically indiscernable height don't bother me anymore than all the other Bonds missing a scar on their cheek and a comma of hair falling down, and I got used to Moore's slightly-darker-than-Craig's hair a long time ago. Actually there are a couple of shots of Brosnan in GE, as Ourumov is taking Natalya away in St. Petersburg, that the comma is there, just as if it were perfectly intended.Agreed with every word, Tarl. Craig's looks are the elephant in the room.
