Casino Royale has set the bar HIGH

But report has it that the new Indian Jones movie is scripted and will definitely be made. Supposed to come out June 2008. Apparently Harrison Ford says he is very fit and feels ready for the stunts and the action movie. But somehow it sort of makes me think of instead of Craig, Broccoli deciding to bring back Roger Moore one more time.
Spielberg is some smart movie maker, but had I been in his position, viewing Daniel Craig as James Bond in Casino Royale would have created BIG doubts in my mind about the feasibility of an Indiana Jones remake with its original actors. Maybe the genius film maker will come up with some kind of Rocky miracle. Whatever happens Casino Royale has definitely lifted the bar way high on the action/adventure/spy genre.

Be interesting to see how it turns out. I'd like to think that Connery and Ford wouldn't be interested if there wasn't a good script.
Maybe CR will convince them to a bit grittier? I know all the Indian Jones movies are profoundly silly films but Raiders had it's dark, Bogarty moments. Maybe they'll play up that side of it again?

It's time to change the guard. Bring on a new unknown to play Indy and see if they can build a Bond like legacy out of the character.
Just my opinion. But like the Dove, I will keep an open mind.

isn't Harrison Ford--after a long string of bombs he may have the eye of the tiger again, put his age aside. My real concern is Spielberg, who can't be beat as Spielberg--but who's always in danger of swinging into Disney mode or Oscar mode. What made the first Indy great was that he too had the eye of the tiger: he'd just directed a terrible bomb that was way overbudget. Indy was his chance to bring in a big film under budget and on schedule. And he achieved greatness through his relentless focus. Let us pray...

And frankly, however old he is, he could stick kick the crap out of anyone on this forum
Thats true, but I really think Spielberg is coming at this at a great time in his career. The days of Hook and Always are behind him. Seeing a beautifully made film like Munich makes me think he could nail this. Here's hoping they go back to the tone/look of Raiders rather than the slightly too colourful and slightly too comedic 3rd entry (I love them all though)Rocky Balboa made a believer of me as far as comebacks go. My biggest concern with Indy 4

Ironically, of any actor out there to replace Ford as indiana Jones, Daniel Craig has all the qualities.
Hell NO! Unlike the Bond role, Indy is OWNED by one actor: Harrison Ford. I wouldn't want anyone else to play the adult Indy character.
If someone had to replace him, it sure as hell shouldn't be Daniel Craig. Plus, Indy is an American. I know DC can pull off a good American accent, but if someone suggests Bond should be played by a non-Brit/Aussie, they would crucify him, so the same logic should apply to the Indiana Jones character.

Though I am a bit worried about Bond 22. CR was so good, it's hard to imagine they could match or exceed it. Sometimes filmakers try to outdo themselves after a big success and never quite capture the original's magic. On the other hand, they're very talented so I'm probably worrying about nothing

Indy was born onscreen with Harrison Ford. He is Indy.

And I agree that Ford IS Indie, although I'll always wonder how Selleck would have done.

Indy IV will be fine.
since someone mention Rocky Balboa, I'll add my two cents about that as well. Rocky VI really, really surprised me, I mean, really. The Rocky series isnt really known for good, quaility films, but this one was very well made. Stallone put his heart and soul into it, and it shows. It was good.

As for Indy, I will be going on opening night when/if it comes out.
I would disagree to a point with RivenWinner. Rock I was very well recieved and won 3 Oscars.

I suggested in another thread that Craig should play the villain in Indy 4. It'd be classic - Bond vs Indy! Give him some scenes with Connery and it'll be dynamite.

here's a question: Didn't Connery retire from acting?
He never said he was retired...he said that he'd need a Mafia-like offer he couldn't refuse to do another film. And if anyone's gonna make that kind of offer, it'd be Lucas and Spielberg.

While there's no doubt he's one of the great stars of all time, when you consider the last decade or so, he's turned down some roles that could have made him that much greater and proved him a more versatile actor than he's given credit for. Many see him as just an action star.I wish people would get off of Ford's back. He's fine and he will handle Indy quite well. Yeah, sure, he's had a string of bombs and underperformers, but so what? Look at all the other movies he's made before in the past.
Consider he turned down the lead in Schindler's List, as well as the role George Clooney won an Oscar for in Syriana and Michael Douglas's role in Traffic, all big Oscar winners. Not to mention roles in other blocksbusters such as Jurassic Park, The Perfect Storm and several others.
Instead, he opted to make things like Sabrina, Random Hearts, What Lies Beneath, K-19, Hollywood Homicide and Firewall. I give him credit for trying to stretch his abilities, and he's earned the right to pick and choose his projects. But either he or his agent don't have much knack for picking projects with notoriety potential the way a Michael Douglas or George Clooney seem to. And it's sad to see him resting on his laurels when the chances for great roles are right in front of him.
