Casino Royale's Bond girl dress is bestseller

Jenny Packham is the fashion designer du jour after creating one of the most popular dresses ever featured in a James Bond film.

The coral silk, cowel necked sheath dress featuring in Casino Royale at the moment has fast become her most bestselling style. It was designed with real women in mind and therefore features a flattering bias cut and straps which pull in all the right places.

She says she has been inundated with fans around the world inquiring about the dress, which was worn by Bond girl Caterina Murino in the film.

Ms Packham said: "There seems to be a bit of a global obsession with the dress as women from Los Angeles to Japan are contacting our headquarters to try and get hold of it.

"Just like every man wants to be James Bond, clearly every woman wants to be a Bond girl!"

This isn't the first Bond girl who has donned a Jenny Packham design because she also created the Swarovski diamond covered, blue dress as seen in 2002's Die Another Day.

Ms Packham says she enjoys designing for the screen beauties because they tend to be sexy but also strong women, which is a "nice combination".

I can't say I'm surprised by this.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a more attractive combination of woman and garment.

I'd sure like to put my wife in that dress, just so I could take her out of it, lol.

Touche' Dr., touche'. But, I'm lucky to say that my wife is strictly a one-Bond kind of gal. But I can't figure out how my son looks so much like the milkman.

The costume design in this film was outstanding. Green's Vesper is a definite standout in this category.

Like many have said here at the forums, and I'll repeat them once again, Vesper in that purple dress is one of the best Bond-girl scenes of all time.

Will you STOP stealing my lines .......... :)

though .. garment, woman .... tch tch .... one surely means the stunningly beautiful and gorgeous lady by the name of Caterina with that beautiful red backless dress with plunging neckline ??? " All in ........"

:P

I've said elsewhere that I think she was either literally poured into that dress or they assembled it on her! I've never seen a more precarious fit, she was about 3 seconds from something or another spilling out, which probably wouldn't have gotten many complaints actually :P

I totally agree to this one... I'm after that dress like crazy cuz I want it for my prom!!! (The prom will be James Bond theme since I have pressured entire grade and somehow gotten all the guys to agree while most girls are against it.)

Solange's dress is gorgeous too... but Vesper's purple one! *dies*

I don't think Solange's dress is wearable by the average girl (unless you are an average girl with that body.. which isn't at all average).. Vesper's gown could be worn by a lot of different-sized and shaped women and still look amazing :)

Yeah, Solange's dress I wouldn't be able to pull of for the life of me...

Vesper's black one wouldn't be too hard but I don't want to deal w/black cuz that's what I usually have for formal occassions. However, her purple one has one HUGE problem - where in teh world do you find a bra that doesn't show up in teh back?

Here's a lovely photo of the dress, btw.

And I'm sure you will be the most beautiful gal there. Way to go with the prom theme. You rock, kiddo.

Thanks, bill007. Come May hopefully I'll find a place to get the dress made and the rest of it... and hopefully I won't end up going as a Bond-less girl but if I do, ah well. Can always have an alibi if I need one...

Both Eva and Catherina are simply gorgeous in CR and I wonder what would happen if their dresses were actioned the way Craig's tux was. Hopefully it would wind up far better than Posh Beckham getting her hands on Audrey Hepburn's dress! *shudders in horror*

If you're of slight enough frame like Eva, I believe you need what my girlfriend euphemistically refers to as 'chicken cutlets'. The relative consistency is uncanny. As a fully-fledged red-blooded bloke, I'm not quite sure what they're actually called but they do work. Holding everything in place and 'filling out' that type of dress.

The g/f would probably be delighted if I could find her that dress too.

Gala, the dress you're after is a Halter Style Aubergine/Eggplant/Purple Dress by Roberto Cavalli.

Hope this can help.

I've been searching and so far no bones found... :P Darn Yahoo, Google, and the rest of them. "chicken cutlets"... lol!!! That's just hillarious. It's one of those things you just stick on then, lol. Remember the last time I stumbled upon something like that and found out that they would have had my size had I been two inches smaller than I am... Had it been eight I would have laughed, two now makes me angry. *laughs anyways*

One is not average methinks. Come on .. give it a try!

:)

Bond girl double 07, try it... that way we can both have some fun dressing up.

Thanks! It's given me a lead regarding pricerange :P even though googling it and trying to vary search results has resulted in nothing exact so far. But US $1,000 is scaring the living daylights outta me so I think I might have to ask how much it would cost to get it made since I doubt that would be over US $300 here. The worst case is that the moment a store w/designer stuff in Dubai figures out that anything is movie-related, they'll multiply the price by a factor of three or something. Thanks again for keeping me updated on your findings!

Yeah, Cavalli is pretty much Neiman-Marcus and Sacks.

You still have a few months. Good luck, young lady.

I know that searching Harvey Nichols had its issues! Why didn't I think of that before? *goes over to Sacs and Neiman Marcus, unfortunately finds same issue yet again* Okay, conclusion is simple - either the MI6 has decided all dresses as such as "classified" from public purchase, or simply sold-out.

That's true bill007, May is still a while away. Unfortunately prom is right after a whole darn month worth of exams *moans* but it's just proof of how true the phrase "save the best for last" really is.

Alrighty... I've done some research and I guess it's my way of saying kudos to you for the help! Amazing how much other info you get just by searching only one dress... Here's the rundown on both Vesper and Solange for anybody who is curious (therefore meaning all of us... lol):

Solange:
* coral/red silk Jenny Packham dress
* mint La Perla bikini

Vesper:
* custom-made silk "racer back" black Versace dress
* Algerian Love Knot by Sophie Harley (go to www.sophieharley.com if you want to swoon... 1,400 British pounds is a fortune, mind you)
* white Armani tuxedo suit
* custom-made Roberto Cavalli halter aubergine/eggplant/purple dress

Valenka:
* So far, I only know it was Roberto Cavalli yet again but have seen dresses quite similar to hers in a few places...

Okies... am really procrastinating art homework by searching up Bond girl fashion statements... whoops.
