I'm not really a gun expert, but I read a post the other day that suggested that he used a PPK in the pre-title sequence (i.e. for the gunbarrel) and then the P99 from then on.
Might have been mine. As I said, I thought the "Bond on Set" cover looked strikingly like a PPK, but from what I can remember in the film, there was a P99 being thrown around during the fight.
When he bends over to pick it up, it looks too big to be a PPK, as well. I'm just not sure.

anyway there`s no harm in having the ppk back in the posters or pics, it proves that no matter what handgun 007 favours, the ppk is still the iconic bond pistol
roger used both the p5 in octopussy and the ppk with no explanation

bond used the .45 colt 1911 in the world is not enough

I saw it on the title sequence (on Youtube)
Yeah, I noticed it being one of the many "carded up" guns fired at one point. Interestingly I don't think they showed the P99 during that part.

After all of this years, I still don't find a conclusive or definitive answer for the question stated on the title of this thread. It seemed to be the ppk in the pt sequence. Further evidence is in Bond on set (The book). Look at the topic I made about it a few days ago if you need further assurance.
