Just been watching Becoming Bond (on youtube) and I saw this:

http://img227.images...barrelcrdn3.jpg

Looks like the Gunbarrel design has been re-designed for the final version of CR, whereas in the teaser trailer they just re-used the graphics from Brosnan's one. What do you all think? Should they keep the design for Bond 22?

This looks awful. But I've to see it all on the big screen before I can say if it is better than Brosnan's Gunbarrel.

But maybe they changed it so that the transition to the titles should work better.

I dunno...I kinda like it...it looks very real and gritty. Just the like the rest of the movie. Reserving final judgement for seeing it in motion but at this point I hope they keep it.

Yes, it may be part of the title transition. I actually think it is more realistic-looking than the gunbarrel we've seen before. But, I'm not gonna pee on anyone's Cheerios about traditions and gunbarrels.

There could be a bit too much going on in that gunbarrel. Judgement reserved until I see it on the big screen.

Looks interesting.

Will take a spot of getting used to, but I initially like it. The "spikes", since no one seems to notice, are actually reflections of Bond/Daniel, which I think is a tremendously cool and realistic effect.

Can't wait to see this in motion, maybe the "flash" we've seen corresponds to a ricocheting reflection of the gun in Dan's hand going off.

November 17th!

Maybe it isn't the final gunbarrel. It could just be a promotional image made into video, I hope... :)

Somebody who saw the film at MI6 confirmed that that is not the film gunbarrel - but rather a gunbarrel mock-up just for the ITV special. The actual film gunbarrel can be glimpsed in some of the TV spots.

The one in the film highly resembles the original Binder look.

That is the gun barrel.

The blood is also a bit weird.

Hmm strange. I don't have too much of a problem with it. Still looks the same really - just a bit sharper. Bit odd that they decided to change it, in my opinion. Look forward to seeing this weird blood.

Yeah, it just has more grooves in it.

The blood though, seems to run down the screen in about 5 different places, but all moving at equally the same speed - not unevenly as before... just looked fake like that to me.

Hmmm... so it IS the gunbarrel. Bizarro. I'm all for a new version than what we've had, but that picture isn't exactly inspiring. Maybe I'll like it better in the film.

Fake when it was uneven before, or fake in the new version?

Sorry, I mean fake, as in un-natural flowing.

It'll only probably be with this film.

I assume in the next films, they'll continue with the gun barrel at the very beginning.

Yeah. I think the gunbarrel will go back to the original place, but will they stick with this new visual look?

Not sure. The thing is, this is probably a change due to the gun that is being used by the assilant in the bathroom scene.

Obviously the gunbarrel design would be different. It might not make sense otherwise.

But then again...if this kill is the one that appears in all subsequent films, then the gunbarrel may stay the same as this one from now on. I mean, it's a reboot afterall.

They might be slightly upgrading the gunbarrel for each new actor. Remember, Brosnan's gunbarrel looked the same as before only when it stopped...the gunbarrel had never reflected as it moved before (obviously because of CG reasons). This gunbarrel might just reflect new designs of the inside of gunbarrels. They might just be trying to recreate the inside of a gunbarrel even more accurately. We don't even know what kind of gun the gunbarrel used to belong to, and unless you've already seen the film, it's the same case now. What's to say it's not just a different kind of gun? It's apparently meant to be.

Klienman's been wanting to do his own take on the gunbarrel ever since he got hired. He only kept to Binder's style when the producers told him to.

I like it- it looks great. Nice and vicious-looking.

And the reflections of Bond work well- when you see it moving it makes more sense than in this still.

Yeah. I finally saw the clip in BECOMING BOND, and it's very cool. I dig it. :)
