It's about time I did my first Bond film for 2017 so tonight I think I'll be doing one of the ones that has it's milestone year this year...The Spy Who Loved Me (40 years!) :)

OOH! You interest me strangely with your talk of milestone years! Perhaps we'll showcase TSWLM at one of our awful outdoor patio movie parties this summer. (Eyes bright with the vision) we could recreate the Mujaba Club in our suburban Milwaukee back yard!

Good points. It's the 50th anniversary of YOLT, the 40th for TSWLM, the 30th of TLD (scary!) and the 20th anniversary of Tomorrow Never Dies.

Thanks for that! Just decided on the theme for the Bond patio marathon.

It's weird to think TND is already 20 years old. When I became a Bond fan (first through the GE video game, then GE the film, then the remaining films in the series), TND was the newest one. I still remember the novelty of a new Bond in theaters (TWINE), as I had become so accustomed to TND being the newbie. Strange to think TND is now 20.

Ooh..that Bond patio marathon sounds very exciting indeed, Aziz! Dave, I'm also planning on rewatching each of those on it's exact release date this year to celebrate.. I know TSWLM is July 7th (7/7/77) but I need to look up the others. :)

I know what you mean. I've had a TND poster hanging in one of my rooms for at least 15 years straight now. For me, TND is Brosnan's best, and the only film in his tenure I don't enjoy as much is TWINE.

Saw MR last weekend. It's amazing when I was younger that I thought MR was the worst Bond movie, but it has progressively has gotten better over the years. It's still in the middle of the pack in terms of Bond film rankings, but it could change later.

I saw DAD soon after. Yikes, it's pretty apparent that this film had the potential to be one of the better Bonds. The first half is pretty decent, but the second half hit a nosedive in terms of film quality. I can't think of another Bond picture that had a second act that was so disappointing.

I saw parts of Die Another Day on Esquire's Brosnan Bond marathon, basically the Cuba scenes up through the Blades fencing fight.  Pierce does an admirable job, but the script fails him.  Tobey Stevens annoyingly over acts his anger.  Still, Rosamund Pyke ... :)

I watched Goldfinger (great fun) and so it has to be Thunderball next.

Yes, DAD has the most disappointing second half of the lot.

Today, I feel like watching "The Spy Who Loved Me" - mainly because I just listened to the "James Bonding Podcast" on Nerdist and want to view the film with the criticism from that program in mind.

Tonight I feel like watching a story about a billionaire hotel and casino developer living in the Wh*te House, who communicates with the outside world from the toilet, and who turns out to be a power-hungry, megalomaniac bent on world domination. No, on second thought, I think I'll forgo the news and watch "Diamonds are Forever".

Sean Connery with Timothy Dalton...that should have told me something! :D  I think my next combo will be a Roger Moore followed by Daniel Craig.

The day Quantum of Solace came out on Bluray, I had a friend over to watch the CR-QoS double feature.  When Craig calls out the recipe while playing poker, we each decided to make Vespers.  He had given me the ingredients for it my previous birthday.  So strong we each passed out asleep before getting to QoS.  Then Bond claims he had six!

Ha! Duly noted. I've got quite a high drug tolerance (side effect of the acne medication I had in my teens), but I'll definitly keep that in mind for my partners sake.
