What a thing to wake up to.
Incredible that this could happen a second time. Didn't Cubby pay for the stage to be rebuilt in 84? I wonder if they will rebuild. Hope so.

By the way - without being the smartass here: LEGEND was directed by Ridley Scott, not George Lucas.
Indeed. Lucas had nothing to do with Legend. They're probably confusing it with Labyrinth which Lucas produced.
Terrible news about the soundstage burning down but they've rebuilt it before and they'll rebuild it again.

Far from being unlucky, I would say they were incredibly lucky to have just finished work. That was a very complicated set and it may have been impossible to finish the film without rebuilding it. That would have throw them into big trouble and big $$$.This his horrible news for both Bond and Pinewood i'm glad that CR had finished filming there because this could be a real pi$$er for the franchise if the release was delayed. I just hope that Bond isn't jinxed (forgive the DAD pun) like superman

And yes, I don't think they had any filming left to go - far too many sources have commented lately regarding the wrap. And I don't believe their post production offices are located inside the 007 stage itself, that wouldn't make much sense.

The 007 Stage is such an important part of Pinewood and so many large films shoot there because of the space the 007 stage provides that I imagine they'll start rebuilding as soon as they possible can. I don't know who will pay for it but I think they'll have it rebuilt before camera's roll on Bond 22.

A spokesman for Pinewood Shepperton said: "We do not know the extent of the damage to the 007 stage, although it is believed to be significant.
"Filming was not taking place. A production had completed filming and its film sets were in the process of being removed."
Pinewood - which began life in 1935 - has a long association with the Bond films, starting with the first movie Dr No in 1962.
So CASINO ROYALE was definitely out of there.

CR having finished, but presumeably there is another booking that may well be affected.

In what way was Superman jinxed?
It's moreso the actors playing Superman (George Reeves, the Superman of the 50s TV show's suicide, Christopher Reeve' horse riding accident, the guy who played Superman in the serials' movie career bombing) and the hardships the creators went through (they sold the character to DC Comics for only $130), not the production of it.

Ah yes, the Superman curse. Maybe it has something to do with putting on that suit... nothing's happened to Tom Welling yet. Oh and Brandon Routh doesn't seem too worried about it. Addressing the Superman curse and him taking the role he said something like, "It's better than not taking the role and something bad happening to me anyways."

With CGI, they can easily do reshoots. Ask George Lucas

I believe he is referring to the ammount of CGI Lucas used in the prequel trilogy of STAR WARS. It has nothing to do with LEGEND.
Terrible about Pinewood. At least CR was finished.

I'm sure they'll be another 007 Stage, but, would it be cheaper to have it built in Prague?. The insurance and upkeep most be horrendous here in the UK.
Cheers,
Ian

Wonder what they'll name the re-build of the rebuild?

You're right, I guess it is up to Pinewood whether they will rebuild. But for some reason, according to the DVD docs, Cubby has a major hand in the '84 rebuild. Maybe he paid for part of it? Maybe he paid for all of it (to get it up for AVTAK) and Pinewood paid him back? Maybe Eon and Pinewood co-own the stage as it was built for TSWLM? I don't really know. Maybe someone here does?
OH MY GOD!
What a thing to wake up to.

Help me out here. Why would EON rebuild it? Why shouldn't Pinewood foot the bill? Especially since they've done little filming at Pinewood since TLD. LTK was filmed mostly at Cherebusco in Mexico. Then for GE we used Leavesden(?). Now we're in Prague.

How will this set back production of Bond 22?
I'm wondering the same thing.
