Looks good, even got a scar on his eye. Very menacing

Wow, he really is a chameleon, looks nothing like a pic I saw of him a while back.

Honestly, I don't like his look. Looks very cartoonish again, yet another Zao.

dosn't look like I expected but certainly has something that evokes a certain vibe which would suit the description of Le Chiffre in the novel, so maybe this is our first shot of our new villain. little surprised it would first appear on a single paper's front page though after the fuss over Craig's first pics but hey whoo

That's exactly how I feel about the picture. I don't particularly care for that look for Le Chiffre at all.

Now that's a Bond villain!

(Whoever is doing makeup this movie sure loves lipstick. Remember those Eva Green shots?)

Hard to know if this is Mads as Le Chiffre. It's so obviously fiendish, it looks like it could be from a horror movie. But I'd be cool with this as the face of Le Chiffre. Although the scar is a little much.

Hmm, not sure if that's really a pic from Casino Royale. In the online version of the article, the text is illustraed with this picture. So possibly both are just standard press pics of Mikkelsen.

That was my main problem with the photo. If they toned down the makeup a quite a bit, then it might be okay.

The same over here. Thought, we could stop all this out-of-the-earth looking characters in a down-to-earth movie.

Yet we had three nipples, blonde hairs, scars, burned faces and cut ears - look at Sanchez - Davi gave him a lot without all this accessoirs - maybe he was more threatening because he was so real.

In fact, I did not want another Dracula spin off. At least, this was my first impression. We should not forget, that scars and lipstick are not that prominent on silver screen. It might be better then (hope so)

I hope that's not his CR make-up. He looks like Michael Jackson.

So I put the Danish text into a translator and got - as one could tell before - very bad results. But what I understand is that this article is only a kind of teaser, as there is the promise of more information to come over the Easter days: Interviews with Eva Green, Barbara Broccoli and others.

Other interesting information is that Craig and Mikkelsen got their own poker trainers (Tom Sambrokk - anyone familiar with the name?). The article also says that in the film, LeChiffre has invited the worlds best and greatest poker players for a game of everything or nothing. Mikkelsen has only been on the set for three weeks, another three weeks to come, he only shoots for six weeks!

(The six weeks of time is the smae thing that Ulrich Matthes revealed a few days ago - so, confirmation that he was indeed up for the role of Le Chiffre.)

Another thing claimed in the article is that Mikkelsen has been shooting in Prague for about a week during the time when Craig and Campbell were still abroad in the Bahamas. Seems there are more than two units working on this movie...

Very wormy looking! Kind of reminds me of Peter Lorre (who I always pictured as Le Chiffre -- probably from seeing the orignal TV version of CR).

Kind of a Dr No vibe going on there (certainly not like Toby Stephens), only Mads is has a slightly chunkier frame.

He looks like a slightly bonier, more menacing version of the Le Chiffre I see reading the book. He has the reddish brown hair, the thick red lips and the evil eyes.

Hmm, not sure if that's really a pic from Casino Royale. In the online version of the article, the text is illustraed with this picture. So possibly both are just standard press pics of Mikkelsen.

Well it's clearly not that picture of him in a tracksuit.

I believe it is the photo linked on the first post, as I have heard he will have a little scar on his eye in the film from a script reviewer.

I have no problem with the picture, he looks very ill which is how I thought Le Chiffre should look.

Nothing like Zao IMO.

Excellent stuff- very believable! Thanks for posting 007_Stef!

Does Le Chiffre cheat in the book? I can't remember. Looks like this Le Chiffre's had some sort of X-Ray eye installed so he can see others' cards!

I'm joking, of course!

I doubt that is a picture of Mads as Le Chiffre. At least, I hope it is not. I think it is more likely from one of his previous roles, but never having seen him act before I could easily be wrong.

That's gotta be a pic of him as Le Chiffre... it matches the novel's description of him way too much. He looks way more like it than I thought he could. He has that whole creepy frog-like look in the pic.

Swedish newspaper claims in this article that they are the only swedish newspaper to visit the Prauge set of CR and have a talk with Mads Mikkelsen. Their article is shown with this picture. The makeup and hair AND scar is quite similar. This can in fact be the Le Chiffre look. Think he looks better on "my" picture though, not as pale as the other one and a bit less lipstick :-)

Oh, found this one also! Case closed I'd say.

EDIT: Just saw the aintitcool.com picture. I guess this is Le Chiffre then.

That second piece of strong evidence plus the fact IO was previously told he would have a small "disfiguring feature" (the scar on his eye socket) leads me to believe that is him as Le Chiffre.

He looks great. From that second picture it looks as if he MAY have put a little weight on for the role. His face is a little chubbier than previously when it was very lean and bony.

See? Maybe

Have a look at those pictures:

"Le Chiffre looked incuriously at him, the whites of his eyes, which showed all round the irises, lending something impassive and doll like to his gaze"

"..taking in the wide expanse of white face surmounted by the short abrupt cliff of reddish brown hair, the unsmiling wet red mouth and impressive width of the shoulders.."

Aside from not being as chubby (though he still has a large frame) he matches excellently, and the little scar on his eye adds an extra cinematic touch of menace. Looks like he has lost his left eye and that's a glass eye he's had replaced.

Here's a more clear picture from aintitcool news (sorry stef_007, thanks for the original alert of course  )
