That's a damn shame, I think a Casino Royale game would be great. The fact that the majority of the film revolves around a card game would open up lots of gameplay oppurtunies. It'd be more than just an action game.
Oh well
Exactly my thoughts, JimmyB.

What a loss. I thought this had the potential to be a great Bond game and it would have been nice to see one based on the current 007 movie.

the ea games are crap anyway
Not a fan of 'Everything or Nothing'? That seems to be the most praised of their efforts.

I very much agree with you. But somehow I think it's better that they just don't rush out any piece of crap, because in my humble opinion,....
the ea games are crap anyway
I 100% agree with the gentleman above!

sad that EA has not been able to top a game put out on the N64(IMO)
easily what should be one of the best marriages in branding...bond and video games....
in the video game world rushing = bad...so hopefully the next effort will be all the better for it.

Maybe with the cancelation that can open the door for other Bond's(Moore, Lazenby, Dalton) to return for other "era" based games!
I dunno about that. If they couldn't sell a game with Connery in it, then they're not going to bother with any of the less popular Bonds. I wonder if we're even going to see any more Bond games, period. I'm just guessing, but what may happen is EA will wait to see if CR (the movie) and Craig go over well with audiences, and then they may make an Everything or Nothing style game with Craig in it. Or who knows, maybe they'll just make Moonraker.

Anyone think this might be because they think CR the movie might flop?
No...EA did after all make a CATWOMAN movie tie-in game, which had atrocious buzz from day one, but they didn't pull the plug on that one. No, I think their reason was genuine, they'd have to cut corners and rush it out the door to meet the movie release date, and the game wouldn't be any good as a result, and its possibly a 'back to the drawing board' time for EA and Bond. Both Goldeneye Rogue Agent and From Russia With Love didn't sell, so maybe they're going to go away and come up with something new.

I am, however, very disappointed by this. I was looking forward to a Daniel Craig Bond game, but now it looks like we're probably not going to get one. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they did this because the public hasn't accepted Craig in the role.

Hopefully this leads to the licence being turned over to a different production company, because EA has done absolutely nothing with it since they were given the license.
Getting Sean Connery to play Bond again?

Yeah but it was a pretty run of the mill 3rd action game.

I doubt it...I mean, EA previously passed on making a Die Another Day game, I don't think there's any anti-Craig conspiracy here. It could be that after consulting with the production and reading the script, they discovered that CR isn't quite the Guns and 'Splosions Bond movie they were expecting. There aren't going to be any tank chases or helicopter battles that will make for cool videogame levels, they'd have to awkwardly incorporate a Texas hold 'em game in the middle, a torture scene, and then somehow end with the whole Vesper situation

Hopefully the next Bond game will make up for this disappointment. There's about a 65% chance of that, though. Still, I wish they would make a Roger Moore video game.

However I'm not sad that Royale won't be getting it's own videogame. I probably wouldn't play it anyhow because I'm right in the beginning of Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, trying to find Te Punisher, and am paitently waiting for Splinter Cell: Double Agent. Which will be better than Royale any day of the week
So don't feel bummed, there are other games to play, Did I forget to mention that a new Hitman game is soon to be released?

I seriously doubt it.
I question how far this game actually got off the ground and whether it was ever feasible to have it release this November. I know for a fact that they're working on something Bond-related as we speak, but I don't recall ever knowing for sure that that game was Casino Royale. I guess I just assumed. I'll wait for E3 before I say anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if the idea of an adaptation got canned so that they could focus on (perhaps) 2 other games for release in 2007 (for obvious reasons). All the new major systems will be in full effect too.
I can't imagine that EA would be allowed to continue on with the franchise after this. They've already made several awful games based on the Bond franchise, with only one decent quality game (EoN), and now they're not going to have a game ready for the release of the first Bond movie in 4 years. Hopefully the licence will be passed to a production company that actually has experience in making decent games.
Well you're stuck with them until 2010 and even at that point, I'll bet they renew. EA, whether you like their games or not have done pretty well with the games (not critically, but financially). Only FRWL didn't sell that well.

It doesn't really matter. If EA keeps the licence, I just won't buy or rent the games. After seeing a little bit of FRWL being played at a store, I am very glad that I didn't waste my money on that game. It was truly awful, and maybe EON and CR have lucked out by not having EA attach a bad game to their film, because that's all it would be, is a bad game dragging down what promises to be a good film.

I'd love for EA to lose their rights to making the Bond games, but I know it won't happen.

Don't tell me how to feel. I am bummed, because I wanted to play a Bond game, specifically a Bond game starring Daniel Craig that was an adaption of Casino Royale. If you didnt want to that's fine. But don't tell me how to feel.
