Sebastien Foucan hired for Casino Royale
Pioneer of "Parkour" booked for special stunt job

Sebastien Foucan (one of the pioneers of Parkour) has been hired to appear in Casino Royale, apparently. He will perform the roof-top to roof-top jumping in the Bahamas for a chase sequence.

I should point out that the mention of this is about a quarter of the way down the page linked above. Labelled

Funnily enough, a poster by the handle of delon64 wrote the following here on CBn in May last year:

here is a little titbit for you...dont be too surprised if you see the rooftop chase and a chase sequence on foot through the streets of london in casino royale...i have heard from several sources that it is in the script and may feature some base jumping i.e that leaping from building to building used a while back in a bbc promo

The sequence in question is currently being shot in the Bahamas.

While Parkour is cool, I seriously hope Bond isn't going to be doing any of this himself. Daniel Craig jumping and summersaulting from the rooftops would look ridiculous.

You mean graphics? I don't care if graphics are used or not as long as it looks real. James Bond chasing a spider man around is daft tho. The chase will end with Bond saying "You drove me up the wall"

Cheesey.

Perhaps Mr. Foucan will double Seydina Balde; perhaps it'll be Mr. Solari doing the roof- to roof jumping, with Craig-Bond panting and sighing his way up the stairs (a la Roger in FYEO). We'll see. The premise sounds good, though, exactly the kind of cool, grrrrrritty, scaled-down action sequence that we were promised.

What's the Bond film with Roger Moore chasing Grace Jones up some place?

Well, delon64 said London, not the Bahamas, and London seems a more logical location. Also, I'd like them to introduce the new Bond on his home turf, for only the third time in the series. I think it has "pre-credits sequence" stamped all over it, with the chase being the thing that alerts MI6 to this fellow James Bond of the Navy/SAS/whatever. Ultra-daft, I know, but perhaps it could go something like this:

Someone breaks free from the custody of the Navy/SAS/whatever and evidently has a talent for this parkour stuff or whatever it's called, judging by his Spidey-style ability to bounce around on rooftops. "He's getting away!" someone wails. We zoom in on the good guys, and particular a short, blonde member of their team who looks about 103. "He hasn't got away yet!" this chap replies, and sets off in hot pursuit, recapturing the baddie after much mindblowingly risky jumping around that anyone else would be too scared to even attempt.

In any case, it looks as though this'll be one of the major action sequences in CASINO ROYALE.

Fantastic- when it was said a while back that a rooftop chase would be in CR I did mention then that I thought the Parkour boys should be in it as it is such a Bond-style action. Great news.

Sounds like an interesting action sequence - far more down-to-earth than the recent movies' action scenes.

"A chase scene is planned which will unveil the new Bond in the form of actor Daniel Craig. The sequence in question is currently being shot in the Bahamas."

Unless whoever wrote the article actually meant to write "A chase scene is planned for the film which will unveil the new Bond....", or something like that, I guess this could indeed be a pre-credits sequence (perhaps Campbell wants to use parkour to outdo GOLDENEYE's bungee jump and freefall).

Still, I wouldn't have thought that the film kicked off in the Bahamas - always assumed it to be the location of the final third or so, with Bond and Vesper on holiday there after Le Chiffre is killed. Oh, well. We'll see what happens, of course.

Nice to know that there are at least a few posts on Bond sites by "insiders" that turn out to be genuine. Thanks for the scoop. :D Oh, and feel free to share any other interesting info you may have.

You're not a---- erm, parkourer? Parkourist?, whatever, yourself, by any chance? Just wondering if that's how you heard about this (not that that's any of my business).

People just so you don't get confused, Free Style Parkour/Free running IS NOT THE SAME as Parkour. Parkour is getting from point A to point B in the most efficient manner. The cinematic Parkour can be seen here (I am not even sure if that is the case but it is done by Belle - the inventor of Parkour):

http://video.google....9&q=David Belle

and check out this article on Parkour at BBC for those who saw this commerical a bazillion times.

http://news.bbc.co.u...ent/1939106.stm

URBANFREEFLOW IS NOT A PARKOUR SITE IT IS A FREESTYLE ONE - derivative. The one developed Belle and Foucan is different. http://www.parkour.net http://www.parkour.com/

I suspect that this IS opening sequence stuff (probably with the only explosion - there's only one right?).

Having a black stuntman and shooting in Bahamas - this must be the sequence in Madagascar, hmmm?

Is this the famous "foot chase" that I've always heard Purvis & Wade have tried to get into a Bond film? Sounds like it. Cool.

Great find, Shrublands...and a very good article, Tim. Feels like the CR news flood gates are opening. :D

Watch the 'Rush Hour' video here:

http://perso.wanadoo...ish/page20.html

BBC viewers will recognise it from several years ago and it is what made Parkour famous here. I remember thinking 'that's got Bond written all over it' then!
