Blondie wrote FYEO, but when they were asked to rewrite it they refused, and Sheena Easton got to sing another version instead.
Blondie's version of FYEO appeared on their album "The Hunter".
Does anyone know of other songs that were written for a Bond movie but never used?
(If anyone's interested, the lyrics to this song can be found at http://www.rhino.org.uk/foryour.htm )

Alice Cooper's The Man with the Golden Gun is oft cited.

a-ha (bless them, the scamps) put a different version of The Living Daylights onto whatever album it was they put it onto, apprently because they didn't approve of the John Barry version (not such bad taste there, actually) and didn't approve of James Bond generally and James Bond was on its way out (slightly more questionable taste from our Norweigian pals, although perhaps a premonition of (run!) Licence to Kill).

The World is Not Enough; gross

Thanks Jim.
As I'm not an Alice Cooper or a a-ha fan I never knew about those songs.
So armed with your info I hopped onto my fave metasearch engine, ixquick.com, and came up with the following.
If anyone is interested, Cooper's lyrics to MWTGG can be found here:
http://www.norbry.ne...oper/song/mwtgg
Liner notes for this song can be found here:
http://www.rhino.com.../75680lin6.html
Makes for interesting reading.
Couldn't find any more info on a-ha's re-recording of TLD than what Jim provided.
I'll have to hunt down these songs and check 'em out.
I guess all this is for the trivia buffs.

Has anyone heard Eric Clapton's version of the Bond theme. I believe he recorded a version when he did License To Kill with Michael Kamen (They work together on a lot of films - most notably the Lethal Weapoin series). They didn't use it because it wasn't finished in time.

I would really like to hear it because Eric Clapton is fantastic, and should do the title theme to Bond 20.

I didn't know Clapton worked on LTK.
I'll see if I can find his version of the theme on ixquick.

I just found this:

http://www.mjnewton....uk/bond/ltk.htm

It sounds like it could have been brilliant (even though Gladys Knights theme was fantastic). Vic Flick and Eric Clapton doing the Bond theme, wow!

Does anyone know where to get a copy of the wicked Bond theme that is played in the GoldenEye trailers. It was not used in the film and was not on the soundtrack. It is a fantastic electric guitar theme.

Now that would be worth listening to.
Also, when the trailer is put together, in a lot of instances, the music used does not appear in the movie it advertises due to the fact that the actual music has not been scored yet.
Studios are well known for using music from other movies in trailers.

There's a load of Alternative Bond Songs on MI6.co.uk

Just click on the links from the home page. They're cool. You've probably checked them out anyway but my favourite is Me First and the Gimme Gimme's Nobody Does It Better... it's a rock cover version and I think it's fun.

Hi everyone (i m new on the forum)
i know some song that were rejected for Tomorrow Never dies and The World is not enough.

The first one is "Tomorrow Never Lies" by Pulp

The other one is "the wolr dis not enough" by straw.

I don't appreciate very much the TND song, but the straw TWINE is after two or three listening, a good song, in the style of a view to a kill.

I am nearly sure that both of these song were rejected (mean that it has a relation with the movie).

I have the two song, so if you can't find it try audiogalaxy.com or send me an e-mail.

I also know that there is a rejected score for Goldeneye made by Michael J Lewis. I met a guy on internet that had a cd (about 30 minutes, but surely better than Serra score).

And to finish i know where you can listen to the james bond theme that is on the goldeneye trailer. i ll give you the website of the composer soon (because i don't remenber now and i have to go to eat dinner). ciao

for audiogalaxy you have to download what they call "the satelitte", it s the small program that wil download the song, when you installed it s gonna works

You bet it does! I'm like a kid in a candy store at the moment!
I am , right this minute, downloading Pat Benetar's version of For Your Eyes Only.
Thanks for the link level007.

Turned out to be Sheena Easton singing the song! Not everything is as it seems on Audiogalaxy.
But got to hear Alice Cooper's TMWTGG for the 1st time, ever. The lyrics certainly made better sense than Don Black's.

When I start the satellite it asks me for my user name (I am registered, I used to use it OK). Then it goes off for 80 seconds or so and replies "Cannot find host/server".

Please please please can someone help me out.

For those who dont have it, i bought the cd called james bond 30th anniversary 2cd. In the second cd there is some unreleased music like Goldfinger by anthony Newley but also "mister kisskiss bangbang" sung by Shirley Bassey and also a demo version of You only live twice (it s a different song that the one sung by nancy Sinatra) So if someone want it e mail me or ask and i can give them to Blue Eyes.

Not sure if tis is true of the DVD, but the special edition laserdisc of THUNDERBALL has an alternate audio track where you can play the unused "MR KISS KISS BANG BANG" song over the titles instead of the Tom Jones Thunderball and see exactly how it works with the images. I gotta say, I really like MKKBB.

Well I've searched and searched but can't find anything "TWINE" and Jamiroquai related. Unless they renamed the track, or it is off the beaten track, I think it's a myth.

James, thank you for having Pulp's TND on the site, you have no idea how long I've been looking for it.

By way of a thank you, when the download is done I'll send you an MP3 of the original version of Goldfinger, as sung by Anthony Newley. It's ok until he gets to the lungbursting notes at the end; Bassey and Tom Jones can pull it off, he just sounds like Tommy Steele.

btw, I've also got Casino Royale, Spy Hard and Dr Evil Mp3's. Interested at all?

Hey guys... Sheez, a whole thread mentioning stuff on MI6 and I missed it!!! Doh!

Well you'll be glad to hear MI6 has added three new tracks to the Alternative Music project:
Straw - The World Is Not Enough (5*)
Saint Etienne - Tomorrow Never Dies (4.5 *)
Pulp - Tomorrow Never Lies (3*)

http://www.mi6.co.uk/index2.html

Follow the headline story...

BTW, for those of you who couldn't find it on MI6 previously, we now have a new search engine so you won't get stuck again!

Please let me know of any other suggestions for tracks, I'll try and get an MP3 up there in the next update.

Cheers,
James.

Oh my god! How much do I love that song by Straw! It is wicked!

I can see why they didn't choose it though... it's a bit too exciting for the serious story of TWINE. Straw should be asked to write another one for Bond 20... they're effort was kinda like AVTAK and I loved it. Maybe we'll hear song lyrics like Straw's in the theme to Bond 20... remenisising about past missions - I hope so!
