We've heard lots of these, what your favourite one, and what do you think are the worst ones?

I watched TND yesterday, and must say that when Bond has just been captured after being down at the Devonshire, when he's in the helicopter with Wai Lin, where;

Wai Lin: If I didn't know better, I'd say that you was following me around Mr. Bond...

Bond: You have to admit though, we've seemed to developed a certain attachment to each other...

lifting up his hand-cuffed arm to Wai Lin

I just thought it to be a poor one liner. The way he said it. What do you all think?

I must say I'm a sucker for Brosnan and his one liners. I think they're all quite well done

Anyway there's always the cut scene in TND with Q and the Jaguar which is partially a one liner. Now that was a hell of a scene that shouldn't have been cut! Perhaps one day it will end up on the DVD as an extra!

Amen to that, because it also contains DL's immortal "Now pay attention".

Interesting legend behind that...

Apparently, during the filming of the Q scene in YOLT, Connery was getting a bit too much into the messing about with stuff role. It got to the stage where he was missing lines and annoying DL, so DL ad-libbed a terse "Now pay attention!". You can see Connery jump to attention with the sheer surprise of it. And lo, a catchphrase was born...

That's a great legend! Sounds just like "DL". I watched a programonce with DL, and he was saying how Connery used to play humerous tricks on him. Once he held a piece of paper towards DL while doing a take with "BOLLOCKS" written on it. DL found it hard to say his lines with the laughter! I think it was FRWL.

Connery has a great sense of humour!

When does he say this?

Brosnan does deliver some great one liners - anyway, we're saying this, but it's not him that makes them! The script writers usually do. In Connery's case, he made his own, and because they were so good, they let him keep them in there.

I haven't watched TLD, does Dalton give any in the film? I saw LTK, and he definately doesn't it that one. Lazenby gave one right at the beginning of OHMSS;

"This disn't happen to the other guy.." refering to Connery.

My friend thinks that Pierce is generally poor at delivering the one liners. In particular TND, when bond's at the printing presses and remarks 'They'll print anything these days'. Rogers the master, my favourite is from TMWTGG where he says 'speak now or forever hold your piece'. It makes me laugh every time

I agree when it comes to one liners Roger Moore is the King. I think sometimes with Brosnan you have to blame the script but his delivery is usually spot on. One of my favourite lines from TND is when Paris slaps him and Bond replies "was it something I said?". But one of my all time favourites was in FYEO. It was scene where Bond had ordered some flowers and went out side and sent a henchman crashing through the florist window and said to the shopkeeper with the flowers "Send them to the funeral". Classic line.

When the BMW 750 has smashed through the AVIS window a crowd gathers including two female workers from AVIS. Along comes Bond and says to one of the girls 'I left the keys in the car'. It was great I don't konw why they cut it.

Another great line in TND was when he stole that plane at the start and he had that man in the back strangling Bond but then Bond ejects his seat and just says back seat driver.

They should have kept that in!

They seem to always cut all the good bits from the films.

I just thought of another great one!

In Thunderball when Bond shoots Vargas (Largo's henchman) and impaled him onto a Palm tree with a spear gun; Bond says "I think he got the point..."

I love that one. Did Connery actually have any bad one liner's?

The only one I can think of that I don't like is in FRWL. The helicopter crashes and he says 'I'd say one of their aircraft is missing'.

I get the feeling that Brosnan hasn't been particularly well-served as far as one-liners are concerned. He has had a couple of brilliant ones: GE's "I love a woman who enjoys pulling rank" and TND's "back seat driver". But time after time the scriptwriters seem to miss great opportunities, or just write bad ones. For example, after pushing the guy in the printing press I was fully expecting Bond to come out with "He always wanted to be in the papers", but we didn't get it. Likewise, here's an alternative to the opening of the Arms Bazaar chaos...

BOND (off camera): You know this sort of thing can be bad for your health.

Guard looks up.

BOND KO's him.

BOND: Told you.

And as for "Christmas coming once a year"...they must be getting desperate.

Dalton did have at least one pithy comeback in TLD; after disposing of Necros by cutting his shoe off, he tells Kara "I gave him the boot". But its so quick its easy to miss. Likewise, Whitaker "meets his Waterloo" amongst his toy soldiers.

As for the best, I think the two best Bond one liners actually come from outside of the "Official" series (sorry). There is Casino Royale's "How do you remember a toupee? - It can only be described as an heirloom" and Never Say Never Again's "Oh your clothes are all wet - Yesch, but my Martini'sche schtill dry"

Now THAT's a classic one-liner.

I'd say that's quite a good one. Connery seems to deliver - even if they're poor ones, very well!

Yeah it was Roger who held up the 'bollocks' card. It was connery who organised for DL to wear shorts in YOLT because he new DL hated wearing them.

Also Roger used to change DL's script because he new DL didn't have a clue what he was talking about in the first place.

You know the worst thing about that scene? Non-widescreen video you can't see the arm when they lift it up so you have no idea what they're talking about!! Thank God for DVD

'That's a nice little nothing your almost wearing'. It cracks me up everytime although Rogers the man, sean delivers that line brilliantly.
