When asked by Daily Express today to a possible return as Bond, Pierce Brosnan said: "Who knows? Let's put it this way, they know where to find me."

Mmmm...you think? I know though that Pierce Bronsan has said repeatdly that he just didn't "fit the role" many a time, so I doubt he will return.

If Pierce does come back, who will go make sure Jim doesn't fall off the wagon?

It's too late. He burned his bridges. Just today he called them "stupid."

After what we have been through in my state, it's great to be back and have this distraction. No, he should not come back. Great to be back.

I,ve gone on record, many a post, stating that peirce more than exceded my ezpectations as Bond, and produced an excellent portrail of bond in the face of mediocre scripts. I,m heartened by the fact that a "real" wruter has been employed to "polish" ( ie, rewrite )"Casino Royale" but I don.t think Pierce is coming back.

The source material, plus the confirmation that Martin Campbell is directing suggests EON are going for a reinvention, if not a restart.
I think that, THAT!.. is the only point of contact between EON and SONY at this stage.

I,m sure aurguments over everything else are heated.

If it were me and I were restarting the series, espessialy in the face of the current dissintrest by "popular" Hollywood I would go for a radicle re-invention.

Purvis and Wade ( Plot Outline)
Mark Millar and Brian Michael Bendis ( Revision of Plot Outline)
Paul Haggis ( Final Script)

( I think it shows a lot about us Bond fans understanding of the media of film when " What sort of timepiece should bond wear, wipes " Haggis to rewrite script" from the forums.)

My Casting ( for what it's worth)

Bond : Gary Lucy.
Vesper : French Actress - Ally Mac Tiana/Dany Verissimo ( same girl) .... ( And the contrevosy that would follow that casting would be Bond history in the making! )
Moneypenny : Tazmin Outhwaite.
Le Chiffre ; Gary Oldman.
Felix Leiter :Tom Cruise ( Walk on Part, an MI3 Joke, Why Not?)
Q ; John Cleese.
M ; Roger Moore.

Pierce should call them stupid. What other words can you use in polite company for the creators of Die Another Day?

I am all for Pierce returning, but after all of these rumors...I mean, seriously, how many times does he have to deny it before we ALL believe it?

It will never be fully believed. The idea of him returning like Connery did in Diamonds Are Forever will always be there.

I know, but it is downright silly at this point. Those were different times and under different circumstances. Pierce is not going to get a record-setting sum and give it to charity like Sir Sean did.

Come on, people, even I, one of the biggest Pierce as Bond supporters, am ready to move on. Time to cast Clive for a hefty paycheck.

I'd love to see a decrease in the Brosnan as Bond rumours as well, yes.

That reads like an old quote...like word-for-word something he said several months ago. I think it was printed today but not actually asked today. The Express is just recycling old stories.

I absolutely hope that he does come back for Casino Royale!!!

I have said all along that this is one big negotiating ploy, and that Brosnan would be back.

And truth be told Pierce Brosnan is still light-years better than any of the so-called "contenders!"

Hugh Jackman is the only "contender" who begins to compare!

Please Please Please EON, bring Pierce Brosnan back for at least one more Bond. :) :) :) :) :)

A shame this story broke, evev if it was inevitable. Brosnan isn't coming back, but this kind of thing makes great press.

The Brosnan kamikazes were nearly beaten down...and now THIS...

Remember, the papers also tipped Ewan Stewart as a Bond contender...

Pierce just looks too old to play Bond anymore. Look at the picture at the top of the article entitled "Pierce Brosnan Launches Broadside at Bush" hosted on this site. Even I was shocked by how old he looked, with a pure white goatee and his age spots on his forehead are getting even more pronounced, it seems. Casting Pierce to play James Bond the way he looks now is miscasting even worse than it would be to cast Ewan Stewart. Just because he once seemed like a prototype of Bond doesn't mean he still is. Time marches on, and it's leaving imprints on Pierce's face. :)

The thing is, Marjil, that Brosnan would shave the goatee, and could dye his hair. Brosnan has the goatee for a movie role, it won't be permanent.
Brosnan still does not look anywhere nearly as old as Roger Moore did in AVTAK, or even OP for that matter.

Brosnan is still the best choice for James Bond at this time!!!

But whose to know exactly who all the contenders may be? Could there be an unknown factored in somewhere?

Qwerty is absolutely right! The contenders we know about are only the tip of the iceberg, rumors that have found their way to us through sources, PR-machinery and tabloid inventions. EON

I won't dismiss the possibility of PB returning until someone else is officially signed. It seems pretty darned unlikely though.
