It's D'Artagnan Comics "Nunca Digas Nunca Jamas." It's a color comic, with art that's about on a par with the other Spanish comics. The story represents a pretty faithful rendering of the movie plot. I hope to get a chance to post a couple of scans soon.

Oooo...I'd love to see scans, Major. :D

I've scanned the images, but I can only send very small ones. Anyway, here are the opening page and the death of Fatima Blush.

Interesting. The art reminds me the Dr.No adaptation.

Can you scan the cover, Major Tallon? Knowing what the cover looks like will help in eventually tracking down a copy.

To whom it may interest: Right now a lot of Chilean comics and novels are for sale at ebay. Unfortunately I'm broke.

I've read Serpent's Tooth and greatly enjoyed it. As mentioned before, it also has all the things I'd detest to see in a Bond film. Still have The Quasimodo Gambit lying around, waiting to be read. I was bored by Shattered Helix, though.

I've never understood why no comic book publishers have picked up the rights to publish a Bond comic (not counting the Young Bond graphic novels), considering that these last couple of years most publishers have comic book for all kinds of movie properties (from Highlander to Army of Darkness to the Final Destination).

Are the rights too expensive or simply not available?

It would be interesting to see what different writers would bring to the plate (Chuck Dixon, Joss Whedon, Strazynski, Greg Ruck, Ed Brubaker, etc.). Even if their stories were disliked, well, the comics' continuity would never hurt the films nor novels.

I'd wager a guess that the rights are tied up or nobody has taken it upon themselves to sell the idea to anyone with authority. Last I knew Topps had the rights and from what I recall they were actually planning a series which got dumped after GoldenEye part 1. It's possible, though perhaps a bit unlikely (13 years later) that they still own the rights.

One of my favorite comic book artists, Tim Sale (the artist on such fantastic works as BATMAN: THE LONG HALLOWEEN and SUPERMAN: FOR ALL SEASONS) has done his take on James Bond:

Makes me wish we were getting some new Bond comics.

It was a commissioned piece of artwork that the owner was generous enough to publish online. That's all.

Splendid drawing. It looks a lot like Connery, with a hint of Dalton.

Thanks Righty. There's an updated version on my own site with new cool stuff like the unpublished John Gardner strips, etc.
