Definitely seems to capture the spirit of Hellebore from the book.

Same with me. Bond imprisoned in the well and the swim are my favourite moments from SilverFin. The graphic novel seems to capture it perfectly.Yep, my favorite chapter of the book. It was the chapter that made me sit up and think, "Hey, this Young Bond thing might work."

The store had it as one of the featured graphic novels in the graphic novels section, so here's hoping it sells well.

Very!the opening sequence is handled like a "pre-titles scene" in that it comes before the title page in the book. Pretty cool!
I've always enjoyed the 'pre title sequences' in the Young Bond books. I thought Double or Die had the best so far (yet to read BRC).

Cool.Saw it in Books, Etc. yesterday. A nice looking book - its all printed on glossy paper (not sure if that's a graphic novel standard), so it all looks rather spiffy. The artwork is terrific and there was one touch I rather liked: the opening sequence is handled like a "pre-titles scene" in that it comes before the title page in the book. Pretty cool!

Are you seeing any cool promotional material? I know there are SilverFin GN posters, bookmarks, and flyers out there.

There goes the mail lady up the street. She'll hit me on the way back down in about 20 mins. Fingers crossed. (Yes, this is my day.)

Didn't get it.
Finally got something before you.
You'll probably get yours tomorrow. Mine shipped on the 29th according to the email. (That's actually pretty awesome for international standard shipping. Sent on the 29th, received on the 3rd. I actually ordered on the 28th too.)

But, sadly, the whole thing just reminds me of how ludicrous and implausible all this seemed to me happening to a 13 year old back when then book was published in 2005. And now, seeing it drawn, makes it seem all the more preposterous.
Young Bond. As a comic book. It's not Ian Fleming's James Bond.

But is it Charlie Higson's Young Bond? I think at this point, Young Bond can be taken as its own character and phenomena. Based on Fleming's Bond, yes. But I don't think its purpose is necessarily to provide a backstory to the Fleming's books. They are Bondian adventure books, very much their own thing, especially to the core readership who will not pick up a Fleming book for many more years to come. (And when they do, may actually measure/compare them to Young Bond.)Young Bond. As a comic book. It's not Ian Fleming's James Bond.

I would say my only problem with this graphic novel is that it's an adaptation of SilverFin. You know, I think it's a well written book, it is enjoyable, but it's also rather... 'mad scientist' in a bad way. The whole SilverFin serum or whatever. It just doesn't fit with Bond's world in my opinion. It's something right out of a children's cartoon. It's definitely the low-end of the Young Bond series IMO. Blood Fever was a major improvement though still a little over the top. If I'm completely honest with myself, the best one was probably Double or Die. These 2 specifically, I think I'll enjoy far more than SilverFin in graphic novel form.

But I'm quite literal, Zen. Be it by Charlie, Amis, Chris Wood, and the rest, it has to resemble Fleming's Bond, be something IF's Bond might have done, whether backstory or in the future.
The comic "Silverfin" sadly emphasises Young Bond doesn't.
I'd hate to see a comic version of "Devil May Care"...
