When the other two films about Fleming were televised, I tried to watch them, but it seemed they wanted to be kind of like Bond films as much as they could. The version that starred Charles Dance turned me off early because there's this scene where Fleming turns some loose room numeral with a gun and it was reading "007". I was shaking my head and thinking "whatever".

But the "100% factual" thing intrigues me. Haven't heard of the guy playing Fleming. I'll have to look him up.

Another Fleming biopic? Well, at least he's not being forgotten. Can it be called a movie if it's only sixty minutes? Why bother. I would be more interested in a really well made documentary on him. Has THAT been done yet?

I didn't like the Charles Dance one, but I thought the Jason Connery one was interesting.

An hour? Seems pointless to do such a project in so little time.

Yeah, it's a bit off that Agatha Christie and George Orwell get 90mins each and Fleming only warrants 60. I suppose the thing to remember, is that this is an arts documentary - it's not a "tv movie" per se. I doubt we'll see Fleming in a car chase or shoot-'em-ups or massive feats of Bond-like derring-do, because that's not what Fleming was about. The producer's approach seems to be more on thoughtful, intelligent analysis than sensationalism for the sake of it. Maybe 60mins is about right for that.

I watched the first two series of Cutting It (after which it got *really* silly), so am familiar with Daniels' largest screen role. He was playing a cold, slimy, arrogant :) and you were never sure if he actually had any feelings whatsoever. I think he'd be quite a good Fleming.

When this one for the BBC will be made and broadcast, it will be the third Fleming biopic so far, the previous two being 'Goldeneye' with Charles Dance as Fleming, broadcast on TV in 1989, and 'Spymaker:The Secret Life of Ian Fleming (1990). It was more of a TV film, with Jason Connery as Ian Fleming.

Well, well. If I've learned anything today, it's that there's a healthy demand in this world for Fleming biopics. :)

I think Charles Dance - at least physically and vocally - was excellent as Fleming in Goldeneye. He looks good now. Why not have him again (assumimg he's interested)?

Wall to Wall Productions have updated their website with details of the Fleming drama. They don't say much we didn't already know, except that Ann Fleming will be played by Emily Woof and Noel Coward will be played by Pip Torrens.

Nope, it's only on VHS I'm fairly certain, as well as Spymaker.
