What is your favorite James Bond soundtrack? We've often discussed all of them, which is the best?

What tracks are standouts?

All twenty four - Dr. Nothrough Casino Royaleincluding Casino Royale(1967) and Never Say Never Againare now up for voting.

The Living Daylights, because of the blend synthesisors and grand orechtration. Perfectly uses all three themes of the film.Great action music and love themes. Barry allways does a good score when a long running bond has left and that he can try new things(EX. OHMSS)and sound fresh.

3YOLT very atmospheric and love the japanese sounds through out the film.

4 FYEO very high paced, great slow themes and fantastic brass with techno mixed into it.

5 DAF very stylish and brassy.

For the moment, it's Die Another Day.

Not the best, but it's the one I enjoy listening to the most.

Tough question. I went with OHMSS, giving it the slight lead so far.

I really like the DAF soundtrack as well, and TLD. But I guess I'm pretty satisfied with my choice.

My favourite is probably On Her Majesty's Secret Service (one of Barry's many Bond masterpieces!), followed closely by The Living Daylights and Diamonds Are Forever. I also love Licence To Kill, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day, For Your Eyes Only, A View To A Kill, Live And Let Die and Goldfinger. I have a soft spot for Thunderball, You Only Live Twice and The Man With The Golden Gun. But really I love all of them. (Except I don't like the Dr No soundtrack, the actual score was alright though).

As for the poll, I went with OHMSS.

Yep, I love some of the cues in MR. The freefall cue in the PTS is fantastic and classic Barry! The cue "Bond Arrives in Rio" is also one of my favourites, as well as "Centrifuge and Corrinne Put Down!". Superb, eerie cue that one! In fact Arnold's "Pipeline" harks back to that sound very much. Still the actual soundtrack is a little disappointing besides those, IMO.

Pleased to see Goldeneye NOW being properly appreciated. I always knew it was one of those scores that needed time. Just recently listening to Kamen's LTK and was amazed at how good it was. Another score that has aged better than at its birth. My own favourites are, ironically, those NOT composed by Barry. Though, of his scores, I would nominate; Moonraker / Octopussy and You Only Live Twice.

I went with YOLT. Love the lushness, the Asian cues and the many wonderful variations of the main title. "Fight At Kobe Dock" , "Mountains and Sunsets", and "Little Nellie" always impress.

This one actually took some thought...except for GoldenEye, there isn't one I don't like.

A View to A Kill is my personal favorite. It has pretty much everything you need for a good Bond score: A great main title theme song, stirring action themes, good romantic music and a decent flowe that makes it work. OHMSS is great too but that god-awful Christmas tree song takes it down a notch. TLD is up there as well as is TND.

Aw, come on, that's campy fun. Several years ago I built it up for this girlfriend of mine and she thought I was insane after she listed to it. I still haul it out at this time of year, if for anything else to gauge reaction from the people who hear it.

My list would be:

1 Diamonds are Forever,
Bond meets Bambi and Thumper, Circus,Circus, Gunbarrel and Manhunt, Bond
to Holland are all in the best Barry tradition.
2 Live and Let Die,
George Martin does an excellent job of filling in for Barry.He had the
added pressure of being the first Bond composer besides Barry or Norman.
The remastered CD has a few extra gems like the Gunbarrel, Bond to New York
San Monique(alternate) and Boat Chase.
3 OHMSS,
Barry experiments a little with a new Bond. Solid from top to bottom.
4 License to Kill,
Might be a surprise here, but really a score that grows on you. Maybe the
best gunbarrel of all. Too bad it's all chopped up with the cues.
5 Thunderball,
I remember listening to my parents old LP when I was little. At the time
it was still pretty new. Chateau Flight is one of Barry's best. The
remastered CD is a must.

I voted for OHMSS, no question. The score is defintely the most memorable, the theme song by Louie Armstrong is just as strong.

On her majesty's secret service, absolutely.

It's own special theme, the excellent music in "Journey to Blofeld's Hideaway", the creepy music when Bond walks towards Blofeld's office to meet him in person for the second time. It is excellent this score. If David Arnold does something like this without techno his score will be excellent for Casino Royale.

Hmm, I seem to have forgotten to post in this one.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service has been my favorite Bond soundtrack for many years. No matter how many times I listen to it, it never fails to please. The former part of We Have All the Time in the World / The James Bond Theme just may be one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard.

The Living Daylights and From Russia With Love are also very well worth mentioning. Two more beautiful gems from the master, Mr. Barry.

I voted for David Arnold's score for TND, a real star making turn if you ask me. However, I have to say that I also love the scores for Moonraker and TLD, both are scores that see John Barry at his best, while the two songs sung by The Pretenders on TLD are superb. Where Has Everybody Gone, similarly to Surrender from TND, is one of the best songs never to be a Bond song.

I went with DAF. TSWLM contains my favourite title track, but in terms of variety throughout the movie, DAF has always to me seemed to have a fun, memorable, and extremely well together string of pieces.

I have to go with Goldfinger, probably for sentimental reasons. It was the first record album I ever bought. In the dark ages before home video and the heavy merchandise marketing of today, there was not a large source of Bond material available. That album was the best link to remembering the movie. John Barry's cues are so scene defining, that it was easy to recall the action, despite the inability to see it.

Seriously though, TLD just pips OHMSS to the vote for me.

Not surprisingly, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service has the lead. While not my favorite, it does deserve to be near the top.

I rather liked the score for The Living Daylights, but On Her Majesty's Secret Service comes in at a very, very close second place. Both films soundtracks greatly captured the moods of the films and were just very good works overall.
